November 27, 20241 yr I flew almost all day yesterday with pretty solid results. Actually having a rather good time with the new sim despite some teething troubles that still remain and I managed to program all the key maps to my liking. This morning things looked a bit better out the window as far as details but now its an unplayable stutter fest. Now booting up FS2020 to test the new Fenix A320 build in that sim! I am guessing that we are have now arrived on Thanksgiving Eve and a lot of people are now off work the servers are now overloaded again!
November 27, 20241 yr My MSFS2020 is now crashing on startup. Suddenly... Better reboot steam or PC after using msfs 2024. 2020 will not work sometimes during loading it will CTD. November 27, 20241 yr So far in my limited playing around with 2024 I have not been impressed with performance - more stutters then in 2020 - I pretty much have setup the same settings (as near as I can guess on some of them) - not unplayable but not the completely performance nirvana I am hoping for. I havent run the detailed dev performance meter yet to see whats up - I have a feeling its VRAM which is what I have been reading in forums - most everyone stated how great the performance was in 2024 and its one area I had hoped for some improvement.

It seems to be one of the most widespread cause for stutters in 2024.

November 27, 20241 yr Author I just booted up FS2020...went from launch to flying in 5 minutes. That has never happened under FS2020 before. Started my flight I was planning to do in FS2024 and not only does FS2020 look better to be honest but it performs way better and no stupid bugs to contend with. Yesterday and last night FS2024 was running rather smoothly. Can't comment on the looks since it has always looked much the same as my FS2020 since I have installed it. Today it was unplayable and looked like rubbish. My computer is getting a tiny bit dated but should still run FS2024 fine and it did before today. Mostly lower mid level machine these days. I plan to get a new system late Spring or early Summer next year but right now its a bit of a reach. It does feel like some sort of VRam issue. I am sure on my dated system its no longer best of the best in that regard. Not sure how to check it or even fix it? Seems like the fix rest with MicroAsobo.
