Saving Custom Cameras in 2024

Featured Replies

I decided to stick with the 2024 Keyboard, but one of the first things I did was to remove the F1 to F4 / Shift-F1 to F4 assignments and then create the good old CTRL-ALT-0 to 9 / ALT-0 to 9 assignments as we know them from 2020. Has worked perfectly ever since.

Just so I am clear with what I am facing, here is what I am doing:

Right now the KB settings say "My new general profile"

- I start by having different views by pressing ALT-1 through 0

- Pilot view is ALT-0 (which by default in my sim is positioned way to far back)

- I press ALT-0, zoom in and adjust to where I like it, then press CTRL ALT 0 to save it

- I change the Load ALT-0 to NUM 0 (how i had it in 2020) and when I press NUM 0, it goes back to the default position before I saved my changes.  This happens whether or not I am using NUM 0 or ALT-0.  I have not been able to save it and have it stay once.

Am i doing the wrong steps?

Am I losing my mind or are the custom camera controls gone?  There was a thing where you could set 4 custom views with ctrl-F5 through f8, and use them with shift f1 through f4 (not sure I remember the correct commands, becasuse there's nothing view that looks like this in my sim now).  I know I set it for the 172.

Is there a way I can create a custom forward view (by default the 172 is too low) and assign that view to a button on my joystick?  There's a way to set a vfr view, but no way to actually select it.  I just want to move my seat, save it, and assign it a button.

I've never wrestled with a control system so frustrating.  It puts a number next to my assignments, and I can't see what buttons are being used.  I've figured out that you have to save a profile (and no amount of setting it as default works), but still things seem to be changing on me.

It is like I delete a default assignment and change it, hit save.  The next time I go back in, it is gone.

When it prompted you to save your profile, did you check the "Apply to all aircraft" checkbox? If you did, it would affect all the aircraft for you in MSFS 2024.

I'm wondering if you accidentally created a specific profile, and that profile is only good for a specific plane, rather than all the planes in your library. That would explain why you have trouble saving and loading a camera position, because the profile you are using is not for the plane you are flying.  Jcomm also made the mistake of creating profile for specific planes because he didn't check the "Apply to all aircraft" checkbox:

Good question... It didn't give me an option to apply to all aircraft when in the sim.  Maybe what I should do is make all my bindings first, then apply to all aircraft, then go into the sim and try it?  Do you know if there are any profiles created to download as well?

So when you are binding your controls & inputs, it may as you to create a new profile.  And when it asks you to create a new profile, you will see an "Apply to all aircraft" checkbox as per the 13:17 timestamp of the video below:

You need to check that "Apply to all aircraft" checkbox when you save your profile, so that your changes apply to all aircraft. If you don't click that "Apply to all aircraft" checkbox, I think it just create a profile specific for one plane.  What you probably want to ensure is that you didn't create a profile for a specific plane by accident.

In any case, you may want to watch the entire video above if you are not familiar with the Controls menu for MSFS 2024. It may help you figure out why you are having problems with your camera views.

I just add MSFS 2024 to Nvidia App, nothing change. Then I reinstall the nvidia driver (by clicking on reinstall). I have to quit MSFS because it has no image any more. And then, surprise, FPS work and latency too. But the graphic card is used at 99%; get very hot, even when using low level of image.

I have to manually force the ventilation.

MSFS is superb, but out of control (Ultra automatic, it seems) but my RTX GPU will no longer appreciate.

I force the IPS to 30 FPS max, via MSFS, nothing change. So I restart MSFS and the FPS is now limited, the GPU is still used at 99%, but not so hot.

So be careful...

New update from what I have found.... I can save any view setting with an exception of cockpit view.  When saving and selecting cockpit view, it tries to go to where i saved it but then moves back to where the view started.  It's like it wants to go to where i saved it but decides not to.  What could be causing this?

I do have a hard time to understand why some people face so much issues with all the Custom Camera setting. I suppose you guys don't realy go through all the options.

As it was said before, there are options called "Save custom Camera 1,...". You just select your KB, go to Cameras, go to cockpit and see what keys are attributed to the saving custom cameras option. I deleted all of them and simply went e.g. for Ctrl+F1...F12. I then deleted ALL other KB bindings for the Ctrl+F1 combo. I then saved the profile as default and applied it to all ACFT. For loading Custom Cameras I attributet HOTAS Keys for all of them. Now the fun part: I never ever experienced ANY issues whith the bindings.

What are you guys doing?

The camera system basically remembers the last manual position. While pressing 1 (on my system, for load camera 1), once or twice, it will load the saved camera and then "unload" it and go to the manual position. If I reset the cockpit view, which will load the real default view of the aircraft (have it bound to shift+space here), it will reset to the main view.

Now, if it's not switching on your system, between the view and the manual view, as you describe it "wants to go but can't", not sure what is with that.

Did you search for a conflict? Maybe your input is bound to something else, such that it is bound twice

I actually have the same feeling. I've taken myself hours, and I really mean many hours, to analyze what settings do, then made a plan what I want there (I am die hard fs2000+ simmer, so I heavily rely on what I am used to since 25 years), and then start assigning.

What I also make sure is to UNASSIGN whatever is double and I don't need. This especially goes for any camera functionalities.

Oh, since you mentioned profiles. I only have one profile, one called Default Profile, and I have set it as default profile too and always load with all aircraft. I have no intentions of going multiple profiles.
