Simbrief Application on Desktop?

Featured Replies

Hello,

do you know of a way to create a shortcut for Simbrief App on Desktop? I believe it is some kind of Browser-App which loads in Edge here, but in fact appears as a full screen app.

The reasoning behind it is that I have all my FS shortcuts on the secondary screen, and after starting FS, I am starting other apps from there.

What Simbrief app? To my knowledge there's the downloader, to inject flight plans into planes or download them, which is a normal windows application. Then there's Dispatch for 2020 / 2024 that is used inside the sim itself.

If something is just a link to Simbrief, in a browser and it opens in fullscreen, that's just the browser that was set to fullscreen (F11)

Unless I'm misunderstanding something

Bah... no. That's not it. Now I am looking for it, but for the life of me, can't find it (the installer).

But... I do have an App here, in installed apps, called Simbrief, and when I start it from "Start", then it opens the app only, without the browser overlay.

Maybe it's something that came with the Navigraph Installer?

Is this what you mean?

You can go to https://dispatch.simbrief.com/home in Chrome. It then shows a little "Install SimBrief" icon in the right side of the searchbar/URL

Indeed, if I in edge click on the similar icon, it will prompt me to "Open Simbrief App". That doesn't help me to put the icon on the desktop though. Nor do I want to remove the Simbrief App from installed apps, because if I do, I have no idea where to get it from again.

When it's open is there an icon on the task bar at bottom of screen? If so right click and PIN TO TASK BAR should work. That's how I pin apps and utils that are not actually installed but just exe files for easy access.

Thanks for the useful tip. Looks nice to me. I rarely use Chrome (I'm an Opera happy user), but this gives me a good excuse to start using it!.

Opera is Chromium based, should be able to use Chrome extensions.

Yes, that is how I have it right now, however, it doesn't fit into a "concept" how I am starting the sim. Therefore, I would very much like to have a desktop icon to open the app, however I don't see the possibility.

You could search for it in the Windows start menu, right click on it the “open location”. Might work.

Nope. Already thought of that, there is no open location.

I think I found it.

  1. Open Edge
  2. Go to edge://apps/
  3. Under "Installed Apps" click "Details" under SimBrief
  4. Click "Create Desktop Shortcut"

Works for me. 🙂

EDIT: You can actually also just click the "three dots" just above the "Open" button and select "Create Desktop Shortcut." 🙂
