then there is no reason for me to make the switch.

Don't forget you'll need a new machine for that. MSFS2024 is DX12 only 😉

Why would I need a new PC?

My experience of 2024 Is patchy. I have seen that issue of ground textures not loading in. Control assignment is a pain. the 2020 GUI is far better. Performance in VR is way down compared to to 2020. On the other hand apart from the trees the PG is great! I also tried it out for 2 weeks with a $1 two week game pass trial and although I had some nice experiences I'll stick with 2020 for now. I'm still getting used to my Crystal light and enjoying 2020 with it. I have very limited time for simming. I plan to pick up a 5090 when it is released if the Canadian Dollar isn't worth nothing by then. It will be worth nothing by then!🤣 Maybe then I'll bring a wheel barrow full of cash over to the Microsoft store and get a the basic version. Oh but wait there'll be no internet. So I managed a couple of short flights tonight which were much more successful. Still a few issues but at least i was getting much higher resolution scenery - still lower than 2020 but heading in the right direction. I'll play around with some settings tomorrow and give it some more time but still very much underwhelmed at this time.

So my trial subscription is over and I'll hold off on any 2024 purchase for a few months to see how it matures.

I did find turning off dynamic configuration helped a great deal in VR - probably user error as it defaults to a 60fps target but my motion reprojection in the headset was set to 40 fps. Also had a couple of winter flights which looked awesome, the snow coverage hiding any lower resolution ground textures. The clear ways through the snow in 2024 is an improvement over 2020. I also stopped getting the annoying unable to connect to live traffic warnings which helped with immersion.

Ultimately though, 2020 is still working better for me at the moment, 2024 is littered with some quite frankly, ridiculous bugs. No one can convince me otherwise that it was rushed to meet the release date.
