MSFS2020 crashing

Featured Replies

Hi,

my MSFS2020 keeps crashing since the release of FS24 very often. I kind of gave of trying to run FS24, since it used to crash before I could even start a flight, but why is FS20 crashing, am I doing something wrong or have forgotten to update something? I also have plugged in the winwing a320 FCU, might that be a reason?

When in the process is it happening?

If you are getting into a flight and then having a CTD that "could" be the a320 FCU but if it is happening at the home screen before you hit FLY or on the installation manager screen that could be coming from the server side as a number of people were running into that but I "believe" that has been resolved.

Is it just disappearing to the desktop or are you getting an error message?

Currently not seeing any 2020 or 2024 "down" messages in the official forums.

Have you tried empty community folder and without the FCU plugged in?

When I press fly it crashes. Latest Fenix ppdate is installed. I unplugged the FCU. Windows Store and Windows updates installed. Nvidia drivers up-to-date.

I am confused about the FCU anyway, I got it work only once, otherwise it shows all the time (even the simulator is not running the 8's (888,888,88888,+8.888) - how to get this thing running? I also don't understand the app.

It happens again, I was just cleared to cancel the holding at LAM and got vectors and MSFS2020 crashed without any error message.

Event Viewer says:

Invoked Function: IRunnable::Run
Return Code: -32112629 (0xFE16000B)

What is that supposed to mean? Google has zero results on this one.

I would remove everything you have added since it was running well. You added something that caused this problem, most likely.

Wow. Start by taking everything out of your community folder and see how that goes

no need  to  just  rename  the  community  folder  and  when  finished with testing renane  it  back  again

Oh boy, when my new CPU arrived I will just set up everything from scratch. It has been a little mess with all the different installations and backup etc. Thank you all.

I didn't mean anything like a CPU, I was referring to any new controller you might be using...

Yeah, I understood it that way, but before I try figuring out what's wrong I will just wait until my new cpu arrives since I wanted to set up a fresh windows / MSFS install anyway.

well nows  the  time  to solve  and  find  out  what is  the  cause  of  it  while  you  wait  for  your  cpu 🙂

This had been an issue in FS2020 for a number of users after FS2024 was released. For several  days, the sim crashed every time we clicked FLY from the flight planner.  It doesn't matter what aircraft is selected or whether the Community folder has anything in it at all.  For me, it usually starts on the second attempt (a real pain).

There were several days when all worked well and I thought MS/ASOBO had resolved the issue.  Yesterday and today the sim began crashing again on the first attempt and once again working fine on the second.
