MS20/24 SSD important?

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have an 1 TB with 3.400 MB/s and 2TB with 7000MB/s. Where to install Windows, MSFS20 and 2024 and other applications? I also do video editing, so I think for that the 2TB is better choise because of the speed?

3.400 MB/s should be sufficient.

while most users would opt for the fastest SSD (incl. myself) for MSFS, it is not really necessary. you can easily check the transfer speed from your hard disk into MSFS using task manager or the built-in resource monitor from within task manager. under Read Speed you will see it is plenty sufficient. for MSFS 2024:  mostly streamed via the internet anyway, so your connection is a lot more important here. unless you use a large cache file.

very nice.

maybe not necessary as such , however an SSD or even better an NVME should be really considered more than ever these days , just so much much reliable and quicker

Yeah I with SSD I meant NVME. I am just wondering how to organize it. Using the 1TB only for MSFS20/24 and doing to partions for Windows on the 2TB for Apps and Photos/Videos? Or should I buy a seperate 500 GB NVME for WIndows only?

Yeah Asobo, make it run inefficient and slow again like in the P3D/FSX days, so that hardware matters again.
