December 31, 20241 yr I've been reading you talking a lot lately about Xenviro, what advantages does it have over Xplane's default ?
December 31, 20241 yr Hi @Aglos77, from my mobile during a Old Year Goodbye lunch, it comes to my mind already scatered by the effects of good Portuguese red wine... Variety of cloud depiction and consistency with reported weather and model-based higher level layers, specially in Europeu and places where MSA is Low bellow medium and high cloud levels. Lights from cities and aircraft Illuminate the low cloud layers, while on XP12 default clouds are pitch dark / totally invisible unless there's Moonlight... Also prefer the way it represents reported winds and model based higher level winds. Historic weather. Snow coverage. But I like default weather too... December 31, 20241 yr The cloud lighting from the landing lights is amazing, it's worth it just for this feature! I wish XP12 default had this. The sky colours could be better but hopefully this will be worked on by the devs.
December 31, 20241 yr Agree with the above, XE does a great job of upgrading the environment during inclement weather and at night. It also allows one to colorize XP for a more vibrant world. Just don't expect it to support VR or multiple monitors at this time.
December 31, 20241 yr Also agree with the comments above, my only grip is the sharp teeth clouds edges when the clouds mix with the mountains. Alexander Colka
December 31, 20241 yr How much of a performance hit are you experiencing with XEnviro, on average? Glenn Wilkinson Spoiler My specs: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X @ 3.7 GHz, 32 GB 3200MHz DDR4, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 12 GB, 2TB SAMSUNG EVO Plus SSD M2, 2TB WD Black Gaming SSD M2, 8TB WD Black Gaming HDD, 4TB WD Black Gaming Ext HDD, Windows 10, X-Plane 12 + large quantity of 3rd party addons scenery & aircraft. Honeycomb Alpha & Bravo, Thrustmaster TFRP. It's an older machine but gets the job done quite nicely - smooth with no stutters!

December 31, 20241 yr In my case not even 4-5 fps... I run XP12 with VSync enabled and then limit the FPS to 30 in NCP, or in Riva Tuner (lately didn't start Riva and only limit through NCP) and even under the most dense cloud situations I have tried since I purchased and installed xEnviro I noticed at most my FPS dropping do 28 from 30. In the past I refrained from buying xEnviro because one of the complaints I used to get from users was the impact in FPS, but when I started reading and watching videos about the latest update I decided I should give it a fair try, and I can't regret at all having done so. My only grip so far is with some aircraft that due to the methods used to render their cockpit windows, "filter the shaders" and make the sky look CAVOK when outside (and in outside view) there are plenty of clouds 😕 Happens with the Toliss 32N, but I fixed it by disabling it's window reflections, but also with some freeware like Brett Sumpter's Bell 47G downloaded from the .Org : Bell 47G-2 - Helicopters - Rotorcraft XP12 - X-Plane.Org Forum Flying gliders since 1980 Flightsimming since 1992 AMD Ryzen 5600x, 32GB RAM, GPU Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB, 1 TB and 500 GB nvme2 SSD drives, HP 27" 60Hz LED monitor @ 1920x1080, T16000, Hotas from old X52 Pro, Saitek Combat Rudder Pro (2010 model)
