Addon Migration Tool Now Free!

Featured Replies

I just recently learned, so I thought I would share, that the FSX/P3D add-on migration tool by Nool Aerosystems is now free and it has also just been updated as well recently.  It works for all P3D versions up to P3Dv5 (unfortunately not v6).

Migration Tool – Flightsim Estonia

For anyone that doesn't know, this is an amazing tool that allows you to install older add-ons (even for FSX) into P3D (up to v5).  It makes sure that any add-on you install will be installed as properly as possible.  It's a great tool for trying to install add-ons that do not have an installer that supports P3Dv4 or P3Dv5 for example, like some old FSX installers do not give you the option to manually choose a path to your P3D version, this tool will trick the installer into thinking that your P3D version is FSX, no registry tricks necessary.  I've installed a few old Just Flight FSX aircraft this way and I actually have them working in P3Dv5.

If you would like to try some old add-ons in more modern P3D versions, it's a fantastic tool and I definitely recommend trying it.

I should add that using this tool will not guarantee that all older add-ons will work but it will give them the best possible chance of working.  Some add-ons I tried installing with this tool still did not work but others that I couldn't get working before now do work thanks to the tool.

Thanks for sharing this. Didn't even know this tool existed. Great

Was this one the famous Estonia tool that was used during the P3D v1-v3 time for installing FSX addons?

Will be useful for the next time I need to install the old PMDG 777 for P3D v4 (the one released in 2017, that was a simple port from FSX). Thanks for the heads-up!

It is the Estonia migration tool by Nool Aerosystems.  It now supports up to P3Dv5.

I really, really hope that the developer of this tool or someone else makes an add-on migration tool for P3Dv6, then it might actually be worth giving it a try.  With virtually no more 3rd party support from developers, P3Dv6 is useless to me unless I can install all my add-ons.

Unfortunately, it seems that Migration Tool – Flightsim Estonia  website is definitely out of service.

Yes, it seems you are right, I just checked the link myself before I gave it to a friend, the site is definitely gone 😪

I really, really hope the developer will at least decide to upload the free version to a freeware site somewhere and not just let it die.  It is an important tool for those of us who like to try older add-ons that are not officially compatible.

Fortunately, after a bit of searching, I noticed that a version (not the latest only up to P3Dv4) of Migration Tool was hosted in Open Source and GPL-3.0 license on the GitHub website.
I downloaded it and it seems to work.
