Little Navmap 3.0.16 crashes MSFS2020

Featured Replies

Little Navmap 3.0.16 installed (32 and 64 bit) and all ok on my first PC (MSFS2020)

Crashes when installed on a second MSFS2020 PC.

Error message says LNMap previous startup (which was the first run of the new install) did not Exit properly.

I always wonder why people do not post this in the developers forum.

Or ask where to find them.

What's the point posting such things here? 🤔

It's kind of frustrating for someone looking for help to read about things like "don't post here". or "I don't understand why this post, etc.". This does not help and if someone is looking for a position as a moderator this is not the proper thread either.

Just a suggestion to make this site as productive as it has always been.

Cheers, Ed

He is right though. There is a Little Navmap forum here at AVSIM where he probably will get help (even from the dev) faster than posting here.

Maybe people can also get help related to this specific recent version of LNM in the release announcement post, since the developer is very active for support related issues, here:

Good luck.

sorry, but what exactly crashes? LNM or the Simulator?
The topic title reads like LNM crashes the sim but the the post suggests that LNM crashes.

Does LNM show a message dialog when starting up? If yes: send me the crash report and I'll see if I can help.

The title should have read :

Little Navemap 3.0.16 crashed.

Sorry about that.

I wanted to give a heads up to pilots with MSFS2020 installed on 2 PCs.

One LNM installation can switch between MSFS 2020 and 2024 on the same computer if this is needed.
Also you can install it on whatever PC you have as many times as you like. Nothing of this should crash LNM. If it does, send me the report.

Not sure if you do but if you run LNM on a remote computer connected to another flying computer see here: https://www.littlenavmap.org/manuals/littlenavmap/release/latest/en/NETWORK.html

I have MSFS2020 installed on 2 PCs.

I did not purchase MSFS2024.

I have in the past installed LNM Updates on both PCs without a problem.

This new LNM version installed OK on PC1.

The new LNM version installed on PC2 but threw the error message I mentioned in my first post.

After two tries ununstalling / installing LNM 32bit and 64 bit on PC2 I gave up and uninstalled all LNM once again.

I am on PC2 right now.

MSFS2020 had a small Update waiting so I installed it and tested MSFS2020 .... all ok.

I will now try installing the LNM newest version again.

Installed LNM and all ok.

It loaded scenery automatically ok.

I did not make any changes during install.

I got screenshots during the install.

After install I exited ok.

Upon starting LNM for the first time now I got an error box.

One screenshot here shows LNM loaded OK before I did the Exit.

Second screenshot shows the error and only choice is to Press OK to Exit.

Thanks for the screenshot. This looks strange.
Is the folder "C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\AppData\Roaming\ABarthel\little_navmap_db" writable? Do you have full permissions?

  1. Check permissions of the folder first.
  2. Look for a left over "littlenavmap.exe" process in the Windows Task Manager which might block the file. Reboot if needed or unsure.
  3. Delete the track database "little_navmap_track.sqlite" mentioned in the dialog window if it exists. Nothing to lose since it's temporary anyway.
  4. Disable oceanic track downloads in menu "Flight Plan" if you don't need these.
  5. Exclude the database folder from anti-virus scanning. I've seen these causing issues in the past.
  6. Use the LNM installer and not the Zip file to install LNM.

Antivirus: Excluding the Little Navmap folder let the new version of Little Navmap load without an error.

Only got the message to do Globe elevation.

Thanks for the help.
