March 12, 20251 yr Yesterday I had seen the new Brazil WU for FS 2024, but I am in my Xp12 phase of the uninstaller cycle, so, I loaded Xp12 with Map Enhancement Pro, default scenery set to one dot from Extreme, the free ITC lighting mod, default weather (reverted from xEviro and ASXP12 to default only and it's great even at it's present state), picked the defaut C172 and took off from SBGR and went flying around the area. I ahd to these JustFlight Traffic Global, which further enhances the overll experience. For ATC I am presently using only default Xp12 ATC - good enough for the kind of simulated flights I do in Xp12! Lossless gives me a sharp&stable 60 FPS, like never before 😍 Map Enhnacement with the Apple textures is just great! ITC surely helps with it's colour effects too... The weather was incredably well rendered and perfectly matched the METAR... I was at home, well, geographically far from real world home, but at home flifght simulation wise. From the aircraft feel of flight to the plausibe, even if not absolutely true to real like in FS 2024, Xp12 is a GREAT sim! And it's all in my disk, well, less the Map Enhancement textures, but even those consume marginal amounts of network bandwidth, compared to MSFS, and, if the net fails, I can still fly wiith the last default weather injection downloaded, using cached Ortho or the default textures as I go, and with a feel of flight that is 2nd to no other civil aviation flightsim ! March 13, 20251 yr I am totally with you. I can't stand the default sim's boring landclass textures and low-res elevation data. I mean it is ok, they are just the base product which is just a placeholder for ... X-Plane with Orthos 😉. Unless you have a low spec PC I honestly can't understand why people fly with the default landclass scenery!

This depends on what users enjoy doing in the simulator. For flying in non-VFR conditions or cruising at high altitudes in jets across the Atlantic, it works perfectly well. Even when it comes to approach and landing, unless you’re flying a small GA aircraft, most of the action takes place in the cockpit, with the FMC and other instruments.
March 13, 20251 yr Author All arguments are valid, yet, even from their unique office views, airline pilots sometimes like to gaze at the "scene" from above, and the closest it gets in a sim to the RW pattern the better 🙂 Flying gliders since 1980 Flightsimming since 1992 AMD Ryzen 5600x, 32GB RAM, GPU Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB, 1 TB and 500 GB nvme2 SSD drives, HP 27" 60Hz LED monitor @ 1920x1080, T16000, Hotas from old X52 Pro, Saitek Combat Rudder Pro (2010 model)

I think I should clarify and say "low spec PC or run X-Plane on a huge screen resolution". Because I know some people have a $3000 PC but run into FPS/VRAM problems due to huge resolutions.

I also fly with default scenery, only - not even a single custom airport (except for those included by LR). It is not important to me, the default scenery provides everything I need when looking out of the window. It shows how different people´s expectations and requirements are when using a flight simulator, I guess.
March 15, 20251 yr I always with Orthos now I am enjoying Total Mexico an amazing scenery and making my orthos for USA with ortho4xp and Here Maps + the 1/3 mesh.

But that's for experts 🙂 Too complex a process for me these days ... Map Enhancement, or AutoOrtho do the job just great 🙂 Map Enhancement Pro appears to flatten the runways though. In most cases this is welcomed, like in the default Madeira (LPMA) which has a huge unrealistic bump, but I would like to see some slopped runways where they are present IRL.
