MSFS2024 foveated rendering activation?

Featured Replies

I have Varjo Aero VR glasses, and I am not sure how the foveated rendering should be activated.

In SU2 there is a click box 'Foveated Rendering'. With that option ON the picture becomes very pixelated. It is obvious that the eye tracking does not work.

In Varjo Base software System setting for OpenXR API layer have two options

  • XR_APILAYER_MBUCCHIA_toolkit
  • XR_APILAYER_MBUCCHIA_eye_trackers

MSFS will crash with the 'eye_trackers' acivated so I do not use it. Toolkit is activated.

I have activated the Foveated rendering from the OpenXR Toolkit. When I end flight and exit to simulator menus, they are very pixelated, so foveated rendering is in use already?

Have you created a bug report on the MSFS forum? Complaining about it here does not help.

I am not sure if there is a bug. OpenXR Toolkit does not officially support MSFS2024. Maybe there is a conflict between simulator and toolkit or my setup is wrong? That is why I am askin this.

I don't have the Varjo headset, so just guessing here.  It sounds like you are trying to enable FR in both OpenXR Toolkit and in the MSFS24 menu.  Don't use both.  If you are going to enable the option for FR in the MSFS2024 menu, I tink you should disable it in OpenXR toolkit.

When I check the box for foveated rendering in MSFS 2024 SU2 Beta, then the sim just crashes. Pimax Crystal Light user here.

60-130 fps. no CPU overclocking.

very nice.

the ffr  successfully turns on for me (quest 3) and I can see it working in my peripheral vision, but it only has a small impact on improving performance.
