Is there any way i can start in the aircraft cold and dark

Featured Replies

All i want is to start the word not allowed sim select free flight pick my ac and my parking spot and be sat in the aircraft cold and dark. Is that possible by default? I simply cannot get on with this walk around feature imposed on me to figure out. The mouse does not move the avatar and i really do not have the patience to learn to try to do something that is proving to be an annoyance every time i start the sim.. If there is a way to bypass this "feature" please let me know.

I could not get into the aircraft moments ago and basically exited the sim in frustration. I really don't recall ANYONE banging on asobos door asking for this feature !!! This should have been optional !!!!

Have you tried pressing Shift + C when you load into the flight?

Also you can now spawn anywhere cold and dark - pick any spot on the map, then where you normally select a parking spot there would be an option to start with engines off. Really helpful for helicopters and bush planes.

Thanks will try the second option .. Shift c doesnt appear to work because i selected the legacy 2020 keyboard layout.

I have basically decided to keep my spare xbox controller on my desk for these situations for now. Still infuriating though ....This feature should have been entirely optional i don't know who they consulted when they came up with this "grand"  idea.

It's very easy to bind the walk-around stuff (removing covers etc.) to the same button as entering the cockpit (usually Ctrl-C), so all this is done with one keystroke.

1.  In my experience the quick removal option they introduced does not remove everything from the aircraft. (Windscreen cover left on, tie downs left on)  Negating its effectiveness and still requires you to do the walk around to remove the remainder of the items left behind.

2. I opted for the legacy MSFS keyboard layout as I still primarily fly 2020 which does not afford me the option of using Shift or CTRL C. I will have to locate the setting and bind it. Mind you .. i spent a good 15 minutes looking for the setting to do the binding and could not find it .. which resulted in me losing my temper and the resulting initial post. (I cannot emphasize enough how unintuitive the user interface is. If someone is going to counter by telling me they have no issue with it no problem .. ill go take a seat with the rest of the stupid people complaining how bad it is ...

3 Ironically there is an enter cockpit button displayed on screen when in walkaround mode which seems very effective as a taunt and frustrate device when clicked... because it does not work.

Now the above may come off as whingy and not wanting to learn new things or address the issue. In my defence i have managed to find and bind half of the commands needed to quickly get this done (Which ironically does not fully work) and i will gladly accept if someone can tell me the exact command in the controls settings to find what i need to bind the enter cockpit part of this procedure. But i find it bizarre that to accomplish these things it requires so much time and effort.
