Yep thanks working on the Linux now. Glad not to be rushed with it. Spend weeks dealing with the latest hidden bugs of Windows displays and monitors regarding HDR and shadowing, MS stripped out some functionality. EOL it is. Chrome install hardly a package hassle free run. Google wraps itself around your online tools and apps to keep you Googled, difficult extraction especially the financial card and security side of the house (a necessary evil) Need an email and active account server to be able use Thunderbird. Not so many pure email operations around anymore. You forget however the whole linux windows wrapping is in a browser system already (Eminently tinkerable with) not a Windows system. I have kept a WIn 7 machine running for 16 years because She who must be obeyed uses an old Lotus legacy program called Organiser (Carried over from WIN98) then hits the world with an Android (Linux) phone - go figure!.

Not just a matter of the sim running on LInux - need to get up to speed on a whole new paint program - the GIMP so I can continue the pasttime of paints and liveries for various simulated models that takes ones fancy!. Plenty to go on with !

Looks like some folks successfully tested Lotus Organizer in Wine 1.5.4 back in 2012 (Test results drop down). It was given "gold" status back then. We're now on wine version 10.8. I'd bet it's likely that the software is now fully functional in linux.

She may not even recognize that she's not on windows 7 anymore...

Friendly reminder: WHITELIST AVSIM IN YOUR AD-BLOCKER. Especially if you're on a modern CPU that can run a flight simulator well. These web servers aren't free...

Win11 violates just about every concevieble databreach you can imagine. Just to think, once upon a time, it too hackers to collect and steal your data, now win11 does it as part of the OS. Cannot think of 1 good reason to downgrade to win11.

Hi,

That's just one of the reasons I took Windows 11 Pro from (default) 90+ background processes to 60 and user background user items down from 34 to 22. Added benefit, I get smoother performance with XP12.

There's also Inkscape and Krita. Paint.net sadly does not work well in WINE. Or paint straight away in Blender, although this might be a bit over the top in terms of tool vs task.
