It's actually for a recruitment campaign, these are just regular city buses running regular bus routes, they just wrapped them to look like Police Buses as a marketing blitz to try and recruit 500 new officers.

I think they look cool

Maybe for mass arrests; more civilized than what they did in Soylent Green:

Yep I could see that 🤣

Good thing nothing happens in New Zealand, the police here don't even carry a gun 🤔

Maybe the bus it to arrest drivers that fail to stop on a main road and let people pull out of a side road.

Do you still have that weird rule, Mathew. 😁 I wasn't too impressed with that when I visited NZ. or the no parking on the other side of the road unless your car points the right way..

That rule doesn't exist if it is the one I am thinking of, they reformed it to match the rest of the world it was confusing

The parking rule is still in place, they have that same rule in North America too so I thought that was the rule everywhere. Parked trucks in New Zealand have a red LED light in the rear now too so you can see them more clearly at night, people tend to crash into parked trucks in NZ late at night for some reason.

New Zealand Drivers also rank amongst the slowest in the world, this one drives me crazy because people should be able to do 120 km/h on a motorway, in this country that is considered excessive, I just got a speeding ticket for 117 on the motorway recently and the cop said that was a bit fast, to be honest it's not fast until you are going 140 🤣

Yeah, it was weird having to stop in the middle of a main road and let somebody out, regardless of holding up traffic.

Not in the UK. You can drive over to the oposite side of the road and park pointing the other way, if you like. Makes leaving the space trickier but I don't think it's a big issue.

I noticed that. I recall driving through Rotorua at a snails pace along with everyone else.

117kph is 70 mph isn't it. Same as UK? That's plenty fast enough I'd say.

Yes the speed limit on the M1 s 70mph so to be honest I wouldn’t consider that speeding in most countries, it’s about average speed for a motorway. Our speed limit is only 100 km/h or about 55 mph, that’s too slow

I'm not one for speed, to be honest. I'd be quite happy with 55 mph.
