Why is that?

I personally have never had an issue with MP. Just curious

You are giving developers money away to Microsoft. I prefer that developers get all my money so they can develop more. Updates are always weeks later etc...

I've owned every version of flight simulator since Flight Simulator 3.0 in 1988.

Windows 11 Pro loaded on a 4TB Gen5 Crucial T700 SSD, 4TB Samsung 990 Pro SSD, Ryzen 9 7950x3d, AS Rock X670e Taichi Motherboard, Gigabyte Gaming RTX 4090 OC 24GB, 64GB (2x32GB) Viper Venom  DDR5-6000MT/s, MSI 32" MAG 321UPX QD-OLED 260hz 4K Gaming Monitor.

I stopped purchasing products from the MS Marketplace some time ago (because of the encrypted files/delayed updates etc), but I recently grabbed two products in the summer sale because they were not available anywhere else. Nevertheless, I do not intend to make a habit of it!

The MP helps to prevent product theft in which case the devs get no money.

Security is the importent thing.

Streamed content as opposed to content on your har drive

I've come to actually consider this a good thing. Quicker sim load times and the ability to add and remove stuff without restarting the sim.

Ryzen 9 7900X, Corsair H150 AIO cooler, 64 Gb DDR5, Asus X670E Hero m/b, 3090ti, 13Tb NVMe, 8Tb SSD, 16Tb HD, 55" Philips 4k HDR monitor, EVGA 1600w ps, all in Corsair 7000D airflow case. Sims in use - 2020, 2024, XP-12 and -11, FSX/SE, P3Dv4.5 and v5.4. DCS and AFS2 installed but rarely used

Market place encryption is a pain; nothing can be changed; if you like to modify addons is not good.

Plus you can purchase and install new stuff in a few minutes.

I can purchase and install new stuff from (for example) Contrail in a few minutes. What's the difference?

Also you CAN convert some marketplace purchases to Contrail, though I've not done that yet.
