July 11, 2025Jul 11 Moderator Hi there, Since Nvidia filters aren't working on my system anymore I decided to install reshade last night. Unfortunately, my sim performance has taken a serious hit since then. I used to get FPS in the low 100's and smooth, but now I struggle to get to 50 and even then it's very choppy. I tried uninstalling reshade and nvidia drivers without success. I fired up FS2020 just to see if my system has bigger issues but that sim is still smooth as always (with same FPS around 100). Did my 2024 install get corrupted? Does anyone have any ideas? July 11, 2025Jul 11 If you go to your MSFS24 install folder and search by date modified, do you see a file at the top, it's normally called something like dxgi.dll? (Reshade should have put the dll file in the same folder that contains your flightsimulator24.exe file). If reshade is still active there will probably also be a text file or a folder called reshade.ini, or the folder will be named after whatever reshade preset you had installed. If you can see the .dll file I'm on about, move it out of the folder and see if it fixes the performance issue.
July 12, 2025Jul 12 Author Moderator Thanks, mate. It turned out that something must have gotten corrupted with the sim, and I finally had to do a full uninstall and clean install of 2024. The good part is that 2024 is running smoother than ever now, even after reinstalling most add-ons! I really like them and the fine control that they offer over all aspects of the image. I use both the Details and Bright/Contrast to fine tune the image in both 2020 and 2024. July 15, 2025Jul 15 Author Moderator Hi Noel, could you elaborate a bit more on how? I once had them working and liked them a lot too. However, since about two driver versions I can’t get them to work anymore. i used DDU to see if it made a difference but unfortunately it didn’t. I get a hard lock up whenever I enable FG but since upgrading to this CPU I'm able to sustain 50FPS-native which is my preference over FG. And that because I am constantly interacting w/ a 2nd screen to avoid the judder when returning back to the main display. Plus there are other artifacts that are show stoppers for me. It's why I upgraded my CPU in order to do this. Not long ago I did FG and GFE filters which may have to do w/ the specific driver I'm using, but not sure, so will test at the end of this flight to see if turning filters off stops the hard lock when FG is enabled. It may IOW be a case of finding the right driver after you've installed GFE. This is something I don't need to do as I'm happier w/o FG. Here's a link to a copy of GFE that I have installed. I always uninstall all NV apps installed by the GPU driver first, then do Safe Mode DDU, the install NV GPU driver 572.60 which is what I'm using currently. Don't install the NV APP, just complete the install and then install the GFE app--just be sure to click on the DOWNLOAD link past the ads for other apps: https://geforce-experience.en.uptodown.com/windows/download Edited July 16, 2025Jul 16 by Noel Noel System: 9900X3D Noctua NH-D15 G2, MSI Pro 650-P WiFi, G.SKILL 64GB (2 x 32GB) 288-Pin PC RAM DDR5 6000, WD NVMe 2Tb x 1, Sabrent NVMe 2Tb x 1, RTX 4090 FE, Corsair RM1000W PSU, Win11 Home, LG Ultra Curved Gsync Ultimate 3440x1440, Phanteks Enthoo Pro Case, TCA Boeing Edition Yoke & TQ, Cessna Trim Wheel, RTSS Framerate Limiter w/ Front Edge Sync. July 16, 2025Jul 16 Also, this old driver from 2/2024 contains GFE as an optional install.
