September 14, 2025Sep 14 I have never seen something like what the engines are doing around 6:45 when the C-17 backs up. Really interesting phenomenon. Does anyone have more information about this?

Does anyone have more information about this? Yes that`s why I posted it Brize Norton has a short runway and tight Taxiways. They had to do reverse thrust to backup the C170, then steer backwards down the Taxiway. The guy on the back ramp is calling out instruction I suspect over the radio. Never seen an aircraft do a three-point turn. PS there were two C170 waiting to land to do the same thing. Raymond Fry.
September 14, 2025Sep 14 The reverse backup is interesting, but what I was more astonished of are the mini tornados in front of the jet engines. I found an explanation: https://www.instagram.com/p/C0l3lTEOWo4/

September 14, 2025Sep 14 The C-17 is one of my favorite aircraft. I used to work across the street from McGuire Air Force base. Some of the Load Masters would show us pictures of the C-17s fully loaded. Amazing what they can carry with their relative STOL capability. One question though, did the pilot have to parallel park the C-17 to pass their test?😉 Tom MAKA = Make America Kind Again
September 14, 2025Sep 14 There was a time when some civilian airliners routinely used reverse thrust to back away from the gate or parking space, so this kind of maneuver, while impressive in this case, is not unprecedented. September 14, 2025Sep 14 That was some spectacular ground handling of the C-17. Thanks for posting. Noel The tires are worn. The shocks are shot. The steering is wobbly. But the engine still runs fine.
