KPIE St. Petersburg-Clearwater Airport - Need Some Help

Featured Replies

Hello all,

I've completed modeling KPIE for Fs9 but before I release, I need some help. I've scoured the internet looking for a couple "STATIC" helicopters and a single "STATIC" airplane to use in my scenery. I have found none. Please understand I am not looking for moving AI versions of these aircraft. Only static objects which can be placed into the scenery for eye candy only.

The (3) I'm in need of is:

Static Chopper in a sheriff's (of any kind) paint.
Static Chopper in a US Coast Guard paint.
Static Airplane of a US Coast Guard Grumman Albatross or similar.

Someone out there has this talent. Please help me make others version of this airport more realistic. Thank you.

Michael

The web site is not dead. You didn't get a reply because nobody knows of any.

I believe there is some software that will convert aircraft to statics, but I have never used it. It is probably this one:
https://www.fs2000.org/2010/11/30/fs2004fsx-static-aircraft-mdl-maker/

What I do is set up some once a week AI flight plans, two trips out and back at around 3 in the morning (it has to be two, although can be timed so tight that the second one is cancelled) and then you never see them move.

Hope that helps.

Didn't Runway12 scenery objects include this?

Naaah ... it's just that people see you posting the same stuff over on Flightsim under a different user name and only bother to respond once!

Judging by recent FS2004 uploads, there are probably less than 500 people worldwide who are actively updating their FS9 installation.

Of those, a good proportion won't be interested in some provincial airport in the USA and of those that are left very few will have the inclination, let alone the ability, to provide any development help.

Reality check - you're in a very small minority. Develop all the scenery you want to whatever level of detail you see fit, but don't expect anyone to thank you for it!

Little buddy, I wasn't looking for thank you's at all. I was hoping for feedback pro or con so I could judge and make changes if they were warranted. But the silence led me to believe no one is using these creations. Nothing more. Just some feedback. Really not a big deal.

Hows the little provincial airstrips in the Baltic coming? Looking forward to the release. ❤️

Check https://militaryaiworks.com/

Type in static in the search bar. There's about 6 files of static aircraft that may have what you are looking for. I do not which aircraft exactly are contained in these, but it's a good shot. Lots of Coast Guard helicopters are available as well, though not as statics.

I've been making and positioning my own static aircraft into airport/airfield sceneries for ages but all based on existing or separately searched for and/or downloaded AI aircraft. For this I use a program called "Static Aircraft .mdl Maker (SAMM) Version 2". You will however first need to do some practicing with this program before you are really able to turn it into a routine.

Just type SAMM2 into Google and that should get you going, at least that's what I did years ago.

Good luck.

Thank Hans.

I started using SAMM about a month ago and was able to add exactly what I needed. Thanks again.
