September 29, 2025Sep 29 Hi, As the title says, I'm wondering if anyone has any payware recommendations for HECA in MSFS 2024? I attempted a flight from there this afternoon, but for me, the airport is unusable. Massive elevation/terrain issues make taxiways and runways unusable. September 30, 2025Sep 30 Do you have the handcrafted airport that comes with the Premium Deluxe version, or the standard default? There's a significant mod for the h/c airport on flightsim.to...it says 2020 only, but it's possible that's just because it hasn't been tested. Taimodels has a 2020/2024 compatible payware version...looks pretty pricey for the quality, and there are some complaints...e.g. the field elevation being wrong, misplaced jetways etc. Bob Scott | President and CEO, AVSIM Inc ATP Gulfstream II-III-IV-V Sys1 (MSFS20+24/XPlane12+11): AMD 9800X3D, water 2x240mm, MSI MPG X670E Carbon, 64GB GSkill 6000/30, nVidia RTX4090FE Alienware AW3821DW 38" 21:9 GSync, 2x4TB Crucial T705 PCIe5 + 2x2TB Samsung 990 SSD, EVGA 1000P2 PSU, 12.9" iPad Pro Thrustmaster TCA Boeing Yoke, TCA Airbus Sidestick, Twin TCA Airbus Throttle quads, PFC Cirrus Pedals, Coolermaster HAF932 case Sys2 (P3Dv5/v4): i9-13900KS, water 2x360mm, ASUS Z790 Hero, 32GB GSkill 7800MHz CAS36, ASUS RTX4090 Samsung 55" JS8500 4K TV@60Hz, 3x 2TB WD SN850X 1x 4TB Crucial P3 M.2 NVME SSD, EVGA 1600T2 PSU Fiber link to Yamaha RX-V467 Home Theater Receiver, Polk/Klipsch 6" bookshelf speakers, Polk 12" subwoofer, 12.9" iPad Pro PFC yoke/throttle quad/pedals with custom Hall sensor retrofit, Thermaltake View 71 case, Stream Deck XL button box Sys3 (DCS/P3Dv4/ATS/ETS): AMD 7800X3D, MSI MPG X870E Carbon, Noctua NH-D15S, 64GB GSkill 6000/30, EVGA RTX3090 Alienware AW3420DW 34" 21:9 GSync, Corsair HX1000i PSU, 4TB Crucial T705 PCIe5 + 2TB Samsung 970Evo Plus, TM TCA Officer Pack, Saitek combat pedals, TM Warthog, TM RS300 FF wheel/pedals, Coolermaster HAF XB case
September 30, 2025Sep 30 Author Hi, I have the Aviator's Editon of MSFS 2024, so I think I would have the handcrafted version. I'll check the flightsim.to and Tai Models versions. Thanks! September 30, 2025Sep 30 The TaiModel version is quite nice. Worth the price IMO, especially on a sale For transparency: I'm a community mentor at the BATC discord. However, I do not get paid for it in any way.
September 30, 2025Sep 30 Author Yes, the TaiModel looks quite nice. I'll most likely be picking it up. "...now let's get this thing on the hump - we've got some flyin' to do!" ~ Major Kong from "Dr. Stranglove" Scott Cebula
September 30, 2025Sep 30 I've got the Taimodels HECA. too, it's nice! There's another HECA too by SDG: https://orbxdirect.com/product/sdg-heca-msfs2024 MacBook Neo: A18 Pro with 6-core processor and 5-core graphics 8GB Unified Memory, macOS Tahoe, X-Plane 12 (12.40). September 30, 2025Sep 30 Author That one looks very nice as well - thanks! "...now let's get this thing on the hump - we've got some flyin' to do!" ~ Major Kong from "Dr. Stranglove" Scott Cebula
October 1, 2025Oct 1 The only issue I have with the Taimodels version, it is unusable in IMC conditions. As Bob mentioned before, the elevation is way off. If you follow the glide slope of the ILS or the VNAV profile of your plane, you well end nowhere near the runway. This means, you can only ever do visual approaches. I wrote the author last year, but he can't seem to do the terraforming to correct the elevation. Yet SDG managed to get the elevation correct...
October 1, 2025Oct 1 Author It looks a person has to do a little tweaking in MSFS 2024 to get the SDG version to work correctly. This is from the User Guide link under Documentation on the Orbx page: First enable developer mode from sim settings and then choose options then ground options and enable old terraforming method (this is a temporary fix until asobo/microsoft solve this problem in SU3 or SU4) I am wondering how or if that will affect other airports in the sim?
