November 6, 2025Nov 6 OK, so not installed into, but symbolically linked from v4, here's the 737-Stubby in P3Dv5. Seems to be ok but I did have to remove one of the effects files (smoke.fx) as it seemed to generate about 100 feet below the aircraft. Still making my mind up about v5 generally. The atmopherics are definitely better than v4 but are a bit too blue hazey for my taste. Might be able to mess around with that I guess. Three shots out of Orbx's LOWI A winter shot up the Hudson from NYC And a milder day over the Bay Area One thing P3D never did convince with for me was water. Even on max settings, still looks unconvincing. But the experiment continues. Sims in use - 2020, 2024, XP-12 and -11, FSX/SE, P3Dv4.5 and v5.4. DCS and AFS2 installed but rarely used

November 6, 2025Nov 6 Great shots !!! That the CS or Milviz model? Yep water .. and snow/winter for me is the main disappointment, tend to stick to summer/spring periods in P3D for that reason. Dean Stringer

Never thought I'd be buying P3D stuff again. 35 minutes ago, FPVSteve said: Makes you realise just how good Orbx stuff was back then - that still looks good now Orbx is what got me in to all this originally. I'd gotten a copy of FSX just to see what simming looked like (I'm not one of these long term wire frame guys) and it was still a bit "blah" for me until I found the Orbx stuff. Ended up pretty much buying everything they made up until 2020 came out. Their True Earth stuff continues to impress, I use it in XP-12 and now in my reinstated P3D systems, and I've even been impressed with the LC based stuffed again. They've never been the same though since JV bowed out. Oooh interesting ... didn't realise it worked in P3D v5 .. I see there's a v4 version avail for sale, does that required any fiddling to get it to work? I seem to recall having probs w gauges display. That's why I've been using the Milviz 200 lately (which is also great, just fewer repaints) Edited November 7, 2025Nov 7 by deeknow Dean Stringer

I just copied the appropriate "\effects" entries across and then linked the simobjects "airplane" entry from v4 to v5. Couldn't say anything about the gauges - I don't use 'em!
