It's sad because this would be a pretty simple fix/upgrade, but the developer retired and won't teach anyone else how to update ADE.

If you know Java, perhaps 'FSX Planner' could be updated?

Sorry, but I only have experience with visual basic, C, javascript, and HTML - and it's been quite some time since I did any significant programming. 

I also learned, and am still learning, basic FSX/P3D XML gauge coding. so can always help a bit with that if anyone needs it.

It’s not a question of rights. 

and no, he doesn’t owe us anything, AND he’s already contributed far more than 99% of us. 

But were I in his shoes, I’d absolutely love the idea of a tool I made continuing to be used. 

and I’d be utterly honored if someone(s) found it so useful that they’d be willing to take over development so that it could become even better. 

But no - this dude would rather just call game over and stab his ball so no one  else can use it.

As abandonware, and each new simulator platform or operating system upgrade runs the risk of breakage.

Flightsim has too many dead products because their authors couldn't think beyond themselves.

RC4 is fully compatible with FSX and all versions of P3D. I don’t call that abandonware.

You’re coming across as highly critical of developers who, for various reasons, step back from development and support of their products. RC4 has its own subforum here at AvSim and I and a few others try to help when asked.

I don't know what you all are dealing with in terms of difficulties, but I have ADE working fine for editing sceneries for P3Dv6?

 

Maybe the difference is I also have v5 installed and thus I just load ADE in "v5 mode" and edit v6 sceneries. Never had an issue.
