Lots of F1 racers such as Max Verstappen are racing on iRacing and other simulator platforms. My point to the last 2 videos is that sim racing is pretty relevant to real racing. It is important training to real F1 trainers. Flight sim is challenging and fun but sim racing is exciting the competition aspect gets the adrenaline really pumping. I guess flight sim is too fringe? December 11, 2025Dec 11 My son is a car fanatic and has just turned 17, he’s got a sim rig platform with a force feedback wheel and VR I set up for him, so he’s been racing cars for a couple of years. He went for his first real world driving lesson and the instructor told him to book in for his test straight away, so it must have paid off. He’s not done his test yet but he’s bought his first car, a one litre hatchback Ford ? No a 4 litre supercharged V8 Jaguar XJR 😯 Luckily for him his mum doesn’t understand what those numbers mean. I think back to when I was only a little older and they let me loose in a Cessna citation so I’m counting on him having the same degree of maturity and professionalism, what could go wrong ? Ironically though the insurance on the Jag is actually less for him than the usual 1 litre Vauxhall starter cars. 787 captain. Previously 24 years on 747-400.Technical advisor on PMDG 747 legacy versions QOTS 1 , FS9 and Aerowinx PS1.
