When do we expect the next version of Microsoft Flight Simulator to be released?

Will it have a completely new engine?

1. Hmm, when is the next XBox console coming out? That is what I would do if I was Microsoft.

2. Nope. More stuff for Xbox users.

Those are my nonsensical answers. 🙂

I certainly hope that they do not release a new version any earlier than 2028. New and improved is a great concept, but so is stability.

Whenever the new version is released, i hope they actually learn from the 2024 fiasco, and the state it was launched in.  And for once the 3rd party devs are involved early. This waiting a year to get

Please no.  Not anytime soon. The transition to 2024 has been hazardous and not even "done" yet.  I love MSFS and fully on board with new technology/ideas but they should implement them in 2024 i

I think we’ll see MSFS 2028 in the 3rd or 4th quarter of 2028 and I am optimistic that Asobo and MS have improved their testing significantly since the 2024 debacle. I don’t know if they’ve completely revamped their testing team or if AI is being deployed, but they definitely took a big leap with SU4. Something changed.

But I think it’s important to note, even with some issues, MSFS 2024 SU4 is pretty freakin’ visually fantastic and “I think” I’ve reached nirvana of my add-on support (ChasePlane, PSXT, AIG, RealTraffic, TDS, HiFi, Navigraph, GSX, PMDG, TFDi, A2A, etc.) and some of these newer native MSFS 2024 airports are outstanding with no performance hit (with or without interiors).

Only aircraft I miss is the MJC Q400 (actually still use it in P3D 5.4 along with the Concorde).

I would rather see MSFS 2028 (if there will be one) as an “evolution” of MSFS 2024 and NOT an entirely new engine.  I know they can improve PG as that’s really all server side and AI keeps getting better every day which should help improve PG.
