January 16Jan 16 Can anybody tell me what these marks are? I can't see anything turned on in my settings that would explain them but they've just started popping up on me. January 16Jan 16 I've had those before! It's some sort of CFD setting. I didn't turn it on when it appeared for me either. I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will tell you the setting but yes, this is some sort of view feature that can be turned off. January 16Jan 16 Most likely you have a conflicting key assignment that turns them on. Check your controls.
January 16Jan 16 Commercial Member Hello @andy1252, That's the visualization for up/downdrafts. You can toggle it on or off by opening the Weather menu from the in-sim handlebar and then clicking the "Show 3D thermal" button. Thanks, SeedyL, MSFS Community Manager
January 16Jan 16 Author @SeedyL, thanks for that, I hadn't looked in the weather menu. Now I've just got to find what's turning it on. I'm having a similar thing with AI lables, and I suspect as @Ricardo41 says that both are down to conflicting key assignments. Should be fixable without too much trouble. January 16Jan 16 The bigger question is, why should we HAVE conflicting assignments in 2026? It seems like there should be a better solution than merely having white numbers to show conflicts... Rhett 7800X3D ♣ 96 GB G.Skill Flare ♣ Gigabyte 4090 ♣ Crucial P5 Plus 2TB

Not an issue for me as a lot of the default assignments are for features I'll never use, so I just erase them and use them for what I want, as part of trying to get a load of stuff set up on my StreamDeck. Now that I'm more alert to the issue, I'll probably just go through the assigned combinations on my own keyboard profiles and delete everything I'm not going to use. What's bad is that...after SU4, suddenly I had a whole host of keyboard assignments that I didn't have before. I had some surprises at 35,000 feet the other day. Like when the aileron axis is assigned to some key on the keyboard that I had deleted a loooong time ago. I thought I'd take a stroll in the cargo compartment, and, I almost went inverted doing it...you look out of the window and you're staring Poughkeepsie straight in the eye. Mostly it's been a good upgrade, but I'm increasingly feeling that this is not the way things should be done. I know it's a big and complex piece of software, but MAsobo really do seem careless and thoughtless about a lot of the detail stuff. Still a great sim, but needs a lot more attention to detail and focus on what's already there rather than new features. Oh, and I highlighted that quote because it reminded me of one of the most frequently used phrases back in my mainframe days when trying to explain why things were done the way they were. Sometimes the only possible reason was "bad drugs in Poughkeepsie" (IBM's HQ). The players change, but the game remains the same, apparently.
