February 1Feb 1 Having intermittent problems with steering the Cessna 208 Caravan on the ground using the rudder. Not always - works ok sometimes but not the next. I have checked all the bindings and have removed any that might conflict. Have tried with rudder axis set up via MSFS controls and also via AAO's but same problem exists. Using MSFS 2024 store version. Anyone else encountered this and is there a permanent solution? An internet search suggests this might be a system problem? Thanks for any comments. Martin
February 1Feb 1 Do any other planes work? Have you verified your controls are actually working? Like within Windows calibration? Could just be old noisy peripherals. | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
February 1Feb 1 Author Thanks for the reply. Yes, controls work in sim. Have not tried other aircraft but will do so. Would take several flights to confirm consistency.
February 1Feb 1 Search for 'input viewer' on flightsim.to. It is a small addon that installs to your msfs toolbar and when opened will show the inputs coming from your controls while msfs is running.
February 4Feb 4 Use NOSE WHEEL STEERING for slow speeds since you don't get much effect using a rudder a low speeds. By the same token at higher ground speeds NWS doesn't work well. I have both assigned to one controller--as I don't have pedals I use a Cessna Trim Wheel for rudder and NW steering. Since each will have its own sensitivity curve you can adjust them for the speed-dependent role they play in ground steering control.
