If there anyone out there in VR land still using OpenXR, I got an upgrade indication today (Pico 4 user), so I installed the latest Streamer and VR App.

When I launched the new Streamer, it indicated that the XRToolkit was deprecated and should be uninstalled as its now an interfering app. Don't Do It!

When I relaunched, all my sharpening, antialiasling, upscaling, color correction and fps readout.. gone! Looked like garbage and there was no apparent way elsewhere in the virtual desktop applications to restore these.

Now I may have missed the memo, but watch yourselves.

It was deprecated ages ago but that doesn't mean it shouldn't be used, it still works flawlessly for me, still a very very handy tool in the Armoury.

What's changed (at least for me) is the the stern warning and removal link Virtual Desktop is popping up now.

I don't use VD so don't have that problem, can you bypass it somehow?

I assume you tried reinstalling it to no avail, bummer that you lost its use.

The OpenXR toolkit's author, mbucchia, has taken down both its documentation and download link from github.  Obviously he's serious about no one should use it anymore, though I currently still use the OXRTK with MSFS 2024 but solely for its super convenient FPS display in VR with my G2.   

It's a shame he took it down but thankfully I had it backed up so will use it for as long as I can, there was someone who created a branch off of it though which is linked in the description below, it's a year old and I don't personally use this version so it may or may not work;

 

I'm good. I still had the installer on my machine. Recovered!

Thanks for the info about this ! Pico4 with OpenXR Toolkit and Virtual Desktop (in USB tethering mode) still working great here. Heck, it even worked on the first try in Star Citizen ! 😄

 

That OXRTK mod (now at 1.3.5) solely consists of replacing a dll in the OXRTK's directory.  Its download doesn't provide anything but that dll.  I have no use for the mod, but for those that do, enjoy.

I've started getting black screens in vr with fs24...stupidly I thought must be the oxr toolkit and deinstalled it.

Fs24 worked in vr so all good...until the next restart when I'm back to black

DOH!

Lately I've also been getting an occasional 1-2 second black screen in MSFS 2024 with my G2.  Sometimes none at all during a flight, other times 3 or more.  What is concerning is that my realtime GPU load plot doesn't show a dropout when one occurs.  A friend of mine has lately seen this as well.

I am also getting black screen with my G2 while turning the head towards one side, unless I have light sources from both sides.
