I don’t know, maybe it’s just me, but if I were in this person’s shoes, I wouldn’t go on national radio to tell the country how gullible I was. 🤣

Why not? She has past lives to be proud of.

There can't have been that many feminist bookshops in 1949!😆

Just two more examples of the fact that some people will believe anything.

Must be something in the water. Maybe a mind control parasite, like Toxoplasma gondii. Or something that gets into the gut biome and not only makes you avoid certain foods, but preach endlessly about it. Whatever it is, it apparently originated in ocean water.

Unless you were selling something.

Only if it was a product that would make me a ton of money so that I could retire and change my identity. 🥸

There is a term in computer science known as GIGO, Garbage In Garbage Out, which applies well to AI.

An AI search algorithm scours data servers around the world for data pertinent to the question you pose to it.  There is a lot of disinformation and just plain BS on the internet, but AI is not able to discern what is true and what isn't.  To be fair to AI, it's not easy for humans to discover the truth either, but many humans know that there are special interests, corporations, and govts. manipulating and disseminating information for public consumption and propaganda, so we're skeptical about what we read or hear.  AI simply doesn't know how manipulative and deceitful human beings can be, so it is unable to "think" critically and with skepticism about what it finds.

Maybe one day AI will be able to think critically and dig out the truth from all the BS out there, but for now it is just a glorified search engine.

Exactly. And like you said, that data doesn't have to be true. There's no way for the AI to tell the difference. You've explained it very well.

Now, as for the original story, it may not be true. A story like that would give the woman credibility in the community she has formed, and I didn't research to see if she was making money at it, or what she has planned.

The other possibility is that she is telling the absolute truth. If so, well, you know the old saying, "California is like a bowl of granola: what ain't fruits and nuts is flakes." She seems to have hit the trifecta. Just guessing here.

I mentioned mind control parasites earlier, but there are any number of medications (and similar substances) that affect various areas of the brain including judgement, discretion and the risk-reward mechanism. This is apparently how the parasites work as well, so it may not be "her fault". But how far from "normal" does someone have to be to be standing hip deep in a field of Bravo Sierra and think they're in a field of flowers? I prefer to believe she's a clever person with a made-up story, but I'm prepared to be disappointed. There are too many like her.

If you want to go down that rabbit hole, Google: "What medications affect the risk-reward centers of the brain".

My best friend's mom was taken in by a scammer that she should have known better, as she was quite sharp. But she was on one of those meds.

I think that's from George Carlin. It's usually said with affection. California embraces their eccentricity. 🙂

Yes!  As to my post just above this one, some of our fruits are actually pretty cool.😎
