I have reshade 6.7.1 working on three computers with X-Plane 12.4.1.b1. Matter of fact, I just finished a run from Columbus (KCMH) to LaGuardia (KLGA) to check out reshade and my latest night lighting edits. As far as reshade is concerned, my thinking is... "if it ain't broke don't fix it". That's why I'm still on 6.7.1 and will be on that version until it breaks. If you get a dark screen with the new setup, remove the shader cache. March 14Mar 14 In my opinion, there is one further aspect to using reshade: It is an acquired taste. If the effect that you get with reshade was so much more realistic or better, Laminar would have adjusted their art-controls to be like that a long time ago. The majority of users do not want the reshade look and are fine with the way X-Plane looks (except for maybe the haze thing). The reshade crowd falls into two groups, one is the "tinkerer" that can never be happy with anything "default". The other is the "postcard world guy", who wants his X-Plane to look "nicer than the real world, more vibrant, shining,...". In my opinion this is like using (too much) sugar. Yes, everything is sweeter with it, but its bad for you and if you are not used to it, you won´t miss it. I mean sure, whatever floats your boat, but once people start having problems with X-Plane that frustrates them (see this thread) or become a burden to Laminar´s support...it evolves into more than "everyone can use what he wants, right?". I really hope LR do not modify the haze...I find it incredibly realistic and true to life. The unlimited visibility of the other sim is unrealistic in many weather situations.

So be carefuly with giving a scalpel to a kindergarten kid who has trouble cutting out the cardboard dinosaur with the plastic scissors that are safe to use, figuratively speaking. He will cut off his fingers and then someone will make scalpels illegal. It has happened to SAM already, so don´t say this will never happen 😅.

You have three colors at night in XP12 with golden/yellow being predominate with white being next. Think I'll make a video with XP12 default lighting in the center and my lights with reshade on the sides. With 18,000+ downloads, there are MANY that prefer non default lighting with reshade! No one would be able to use it, not even with a hook! Instead they see the potential and created a disclaimer for those of us that don't want three colors during night flight! Night flight is just about the same as 2024 in default, take reshade away and I'll leave xp12 in a heartbeat! A simple search of " how to use reshade with xplane 12 " and the instructions are given. So the scalpel is already out there. March 14Mar 14 Hi Everybody, It's been awhile since I gave X-Plane 12 default lighting a fair shake, so I decided to give them another run. I have X-Plane 12 default lighting in the left computer/monitor without reshade, my sodium (orange/yellow) night lighting edits with reshade in the center computer/monitor and my led (whitish) lights with reshade in the right computer/monitor. I'm in California starting the run at 10,000' and descent down to 1,000' during this test. I still prefer my Sodium lighting edits with reshade. I’ve lived/live in areas that regularly experience “severe clear” weather and that is never accurately reflected in the sim.
