What's With Simbrief & 738 in 2024?

Featured Replies

I have recently done a full install of Win11 and also MSFS2024. I must have been mad! Anyway, I'm now in the long, arduous process of reinstalling all my apps and addons. I have just installed Simbrief and Simbrief downloader. I install from the Simbrief downloader directly into the FMC, as I don't use the PMDG EFB in the cockpit. I have done this flawlessly for years now and it has always worked like a charm. However, I don't know whether it's finger trouble at my end, or the fact that 24 has different protocols with the PMDG 738, but for some reason, when I go to install a flightplan automatically into the FMC when in the route page, nothing shows up. Normally, I'd put in the departure and destination airports, and then it was just a matter of clicking the relevent LSK and the flightplan which would auitomatically configure itself with all the waypoints and data etc. I believe I have entered the correct location of the relevent flightplan file in the PMDG folder in the Simbrief downloader, but as I say, it's not happening. Am I pointing the flightplan to the right folder? If anyone can offer some advice I'd be grateful.

Interesting as I literally the same minute asked about the same „error“ with the Fenix

so maybe it is neither the Fenix nor me…

I didn't even think the Simbrief Downloader was still a thing.  It's been redundant since true Simbrief integration was built into almost everything.

Even if you don't want to use the rest of the PMDG's EFB features, why wouldn't you just hit that one button in the EFB, to import the Simbrief flight plan, then get rid of the EFB ?

Once your Simbrief ID is saved in the PMDG (which only needs to be done once), it is literally a case of pressing 1 button on the EFB, to have your FP loaded.   I cannot understand why anyone would want to try using older methods to put the FP into a folder, etc.

For one reason, I have many other apps running in the background that uses the Simbrief fP's from the downloader.

Thanks for this matey. It works! As I thought, finger trouble! With such a long address, I ended up with it being incorrect. All good. Cheers.

The EFB in the PMDG 737 and 777 is very good,it deserves your attention,I would suggest to try it.

Sure, I'll tell you the reason why I don't use it. I have a cockpit with relvent hardware and instruments and can undergo a flight without having to touch the mouse. So, having the FP easily downloaded into the FMC means I don't need to access the EFB in the VC with mouse clicks. The less use of a mouse when I'm flying, the more immersive the flight feels to me. I hope that makes sense. Perhaps on your recommendation, I may try it out.
