It’s become de rigueur. When I don’t see it (such as on the WT 747s and Citation X), it makes me wonder what other (lazy, IMHO) shortcuts the dev has taken. It doesn’t need to be perfect to IRL or fluidly dynamic, but it sure as heck needs to be present to some degreeAnd TBH, after spending so much time in DCS helos, I more or less expect full articulation of the blades and rotor disk, too.For e.g., would anyone accept a 787 taxi-ing around where the wingtips are flexed up 25 FEET like they are in flight…?Same thing for me. 😎🤙I'm sure your aware, but the BO 105's rotors are hingeless, meaning any 'coning' would be through the bending of the rotors themselves. The pictures above indicate the devs have tried to represent this. Helicopters with this type of rotor head (like the BK 117 etc) don't exhibit the pronounced coning you get with fully articulated / hinged systems. The closest I've flown to this IRL is the MD500 which has it's rotors attached to the drive shaft via straps and does not have flapping hinges. They have somewhat muted coning also as a result. Obviously they have proven themselves through years of operation, but geeze, the forces being exserted on those rotor blades is incredible. I'd be inspecting those rotors VERY carefully every preflight 🔍 Murray Dreyer

May 25May 25 Sorry should have read your post, but yes, downwards drooping inflight is definitely a bad thing! Of all the helicopters I've flown IRL (all the robbies, EC130, H125, B206, MD 500's and AW109) the MD 500 is a rock solid platform that is a pure joy to fly. The response through the cyclic is fantastic, as I'm sure the BO 105 would be too. Murray Dreyer

I'll stop there since I don't want to imply any comparison between the two since it would be a bit unfair given their different classifications. Although it will be fun just to see how they stack up just in terms of conification. 😎 Edited May 25May 25 by Stoopy "That's what" - She

So what you are saying above, is that MBB Bo105's rotor disk does NOT arc upwards in flight at all? In other words, while flying in real life it is fairly flat no matter the forces applied to it? Not sure how close that one gets to IRL…? but it handles great and is highly immersive. I’m REALLY glad to see the strongly positive feedback on the 105. The dev story is quite interesting! While I’m now highly tempted to pick it up, I’m holding out for the pending Taogs HH-65 Dolphin. That may well become my rotary Happy Place for “serious” IFR/IMC helos. But I’m sure the 500 will get plenty of use - it’s just too much fun 😎👍

Coincidentally, the “Porpoise” is exactly the one I’m awaiting, too 😎Between the H500, UH-1 and some great new fixed wing addons, I’m busy enough to defer getting this for awhile. But glad to see that it seems to be worth getting, so now it’s on The List. 🙂
