I’m a real world flight sim enthusiast who play at being an airliner pilot in my spare time.

Because here it is not required. Either all have to do it or no one.

That was my only point: "all" don't have to do it on the PMDG forum either, as it is not policed / audited. They don't actually care if you're using your real name. You just need to use a name. If they actually audited this, they'd lose half their forum.

This reminds of the TV news presenter who read out the supposed crew names of the crashed Asiana aircraft at SFO in a dead serious manner… Captain Sum Ting Wong, Ho Lee Fuk, Wi Tu Lo, Bang Ding Ow.

Proof enough for me you can get away with really any name. 😆
