June 11Jun 11 On the SWS website a new update appeared (as usual unfortunately not announced to customers) of the Kodiak wheels for MSFS 2024 to version 2.2.0.However during install I got several error messages, which I skipped and continued the install. As happened before with a previous Kodiak installer the pilot seats were missing as well as cabin components..I hope SWS will quickly correct this with an update to installer ver 2.2.0, as I deleted the previous SWS Kodiak installer and Community files..
June 11Jun 11 No, SWS has not got any bugs in the latest version. I too had the same problem with errors and thought it was faulty until I discovered that MSFS now requires all non-default aircraft to be installed in an xbox games Community folder now instead of the location used in earlier versions. Once I located the correct place to install to, it went perfectly right through to the completion, and the aircraft performs as expected. The location of the Community folder for 2024 is now in this Contents folder as follows: C:\XboxGames\Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024\ContentAsobo and Microsoft have clearly failed to advertise this change as effectively as they should. I then created the Community and Community2024 folders inside the Contents folder, and set up the correct pointers before reinstalling my software. Instructions came from Microsoft Copilot. I have never had a problem with installers since, nor have I ever had a long filename error since. My (possibly limited!!) understanding is that the system seems to automatically place the installed files in the original folder locations, but uses this 'virtual file' system to do installations without errors, no matter how long the file names are. (I get the same problem with A2A too).Easiest way to get round it; Create a new folder on your desktop and rename it Kodiak (you don't need to rename it) and point the installer to this location and let it install there. You can then copy/paste the downloaded aircraft file from within this new folder to your community folder.

I believe it is to do with long filenames errors, and you can change where you install by selecting the new location (either a Kodiak folder on the desktop, or an xboxgames folder on the C drive) and entering it during the install process. Creating a Community folder in C:\XboxGames\Microsoft Flight simulator 2024\content\ and using that as your install folder is easy - it automatically places the files where they should be and avoids having to manually copy the files to the old Community folder. That certainly worked for the Kodiak. Cheers, Brian L Robinson Flight Simmer since 1983 - loving the brilliant Quality Wings 787 and all PMDG models!!
June 12Jun 12 After multiple tries to download from SWS, normally at about 30kb per sec, I finally downloaded the aircraft from the msfs Market Place. Time is worth more than the extra money in some cases. If you can walk away it's a good landing
June 12Jun 12 Author Thank you DD_Arthur,Making a separate Kodiak directory and from there copy past into Community2024 did the trick! Thanks!
June 12Jun 12 So I just rented the Kodiak from the market place. Installed fine. Has amphibian version that i have not been able to get from SWS with a ticket I created with little to no response/Help from SWS. This is the first aircraft I've purchase from SWS. It will be the last. So, after $35 purchase from SWS and now faced with an additional $35 from the Market place for a working aircraft. Do you think SWS will do the right thing and reimburse me the money I paid?Bill McCracken
