Concorde is an aircraft I fly a lot. Its maximum altitude is 60,000ft. At that altitude the sky is virtually black according to the flight crews and lucky passengers.

Attached is a screenshot of FS Labs Concorde around 57,000ft. in P3D v5.3HF2. Does anyone know of any tweaks to further darken the skies? I'm using ASP3D with ASCA but stick with the recommended Global Automatic setting.

It is something I have noticed with EA. I used to fly with EA off to improve performance before I changed GPUs - with the legacy skies iirc it would get darker more like it should. I expect the skies in EA aren't really designed to take account of this and so you don't get the same effect.

I'm not sure if there's a way to modify the EA skies to get the darkening effect at high altitudes? Would be the best of both worlds if that were possible.

Thanks Simeon. Until I bought the 4090 EA was off but there’s no doubt it does improve aircraft visuals. I’m hoping some genius knows of a tweak that can adjust it.

I found this old screenshot I took in FSX many years ago which seems a good example of what the skies would look like at around Concorde altitude with the legacy skies - it would be noticeably darker than at lower altitudes.

@SimeonWilbury , that's better but having read the ASCA guidance it looks beyond me.

I searched for alternatives and ENVTEX was suggested. This would appear to do what I need plus offering other improvements.

Might be an option potentially? I have ENVSHADE but have never used ENVTEX. It could be worth a try if it can give a similar effect to EA, although at the moment I'm able to sufficiently suspend my disbelief to not worry too much about the sky so I haven't really been experimenting much.

ENVTEX can sort out the waves at coastlines as well as adding new sky textures to ASCA. I know the author has visited here in the past when I was considering ENVSHADE. Can’t remember his name. Maxime something.

If you're using Enhanced Atmosperics, then sky textures aren't used by the sim.

ASCA or ENVTEX sky textures will make no difference.

Ray the author is @kmax59 , but pretty sure he’s stepped away from TOGA due to life obligations. Maybe he’ll chime in here.

Do you have Envplus by chance? That allows more shader control than envshade and allows you to alter sky tint with EA enabled as well. Not sure if that will fix what you’re after but just a thought.

As for the waves, is your issue with the coastline waves?

No, just ENVSHADE. Buying anything else for one issue I can easily live with doesn’t make sense really.

Yes, coastlines waves draw attention to themselves by looking so odd.

Agreed, I followed his advice as well. Note that anytime you install something from ORBX or verify files in the orbx manager, it puts the coastline waves back into the sim for some reason.
