March 22, 200719 yr I can close the RC window in FSX by right clicking and choose close window but it reappears after a few seconds. Is there a way to have the window off while not communicating? Also for taking screenshots its kinda annoying that I can't get rid of it.Thx.
March 22, 200719 yr Hi,if you have the registered version of FSUIPC you can set a key to toggle it on and off. I believe there is also a workaround by editing the ini file of an unregistered version to get the same effect, but you will have to read the docs that come with FSUIPC to confirm this.Steve
March 22, 200719 yr In FS9 with FSUIPC 3.73 I have added the following line under the General section of FSUIPC.ini. Make a backup copy before editing it.AdvDisplayHotKey=88,10allows CTRL-X to toggle it on and off with these settings. This still works with the "new" RC window. Hopefully for you it will work with FSX and FSUIPC 4.
March 23, 200719 yr Is it still true that if you close the window it will automatically reappear anytime something in the window changes? If true, the window will reappear at least every mile. It would be nice if it only appeared when a communication was required.--Tom________[a href=http://www.corpairamerica.com]http://mysite.verizon.net/tjrush/tjrcaasig.jpg[/a] Tom
March 23, 200719 yr Isn't there a setting in the FS menu somewhere, that auto-opens the window? I forgot where it is exactly but I think in FS9 it is Options, then ATC, or similar. Try with that option off and see if it helps. If you can't find the setting, let me know and I'll look it up (FS9). I'm sure it's there somewhere...Not sure if and where it is in FSX though...Subs
March 25, 200719 yr Another option, if funds and system allow, would be to hook up a 2nd monitor, even a relatively small one would do. I use my main monitor for just the cockpit view (or spot view if I am using that); all other gauges (RC communication screen, GPS, Active Sky weather window, and when I want to show Radio or Throttle displays), are undocked and dragged across to the 2nd monitor. Without a 2nd monitor, if you have a large-ish monitor (19" or above), another way could be reduce the size of your main display area (cockpit view etc) to approx 80% of the screen. Undock and drag RC communication screen (and anything else you want) down to the empty space at the bottom of the screen. With a bit of resizing, you can get 2 or 3 guages displayed at the bottom of your screen, but off the main cockpit display. Could be a solution, and does give a "clean" aircraft display at the top.Another advantage of either of these methods, if you switch between cockpit/spot/virtual cockpit views etc, you don't lose the gauges at bottom of screen, or on monitor 2.The other solutions mentioned by others are good too - just depends what you want.
