April 22, 200719 yr I have searched the forums and I have found a few topics but no clear answers on how to fix the following..1. my ADVDISP autoopens on its own...I dont have auto open atc window enabled in fsx and I set it to a toggle key in fsuipc but it still opens when I am panning around2. I cant hear any AI ...I see them but I cant hear anyone talking to them...I have the options checked in RC interact with AI and AI chatter...is that right?
April 22, 200719 yr Moderator Hi Nigel,1. You can dispense with advdisp. Open the modules folder in FS and delete the advdisp.dll. The interface is now provided by FSUIPC. See how you get on after that.2. You have to be on the same frequency as Twr, Clearance etc and once airborne there has to be aircraft in the same stratum as you. For example you won't hear instructions to aircraft 10,000ft higher/lower. Try staying on Clearance for a while and you should hear other aircraft being instructed. Are you using FSX with a traffic addon or just with default aircraft?Cheers, Ray (Cheshire, England). April 22, 200719 yr I dont see the advdisp.dll in the modules folder. Also, I am using Traffic2005 with FSX not the default traffic.
April 22, 200719 yr Moderator You should be seeing something like this...http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/170357.jpgTraffic2005 will give you lots of comms. Set traffic to 100% just to ensure everything is working.Cheers, Ray (Cheshire, England). April 22, 200719 yr I do but my example comes from TNCM...I was on ground...I saw a plane start taxing. I went to tower..never heard clearance for it to take off and never heard it get handed off to departurealso, I did a search for advdisplay.dll and it doesnt exist...as if the installer never installed it...is it an invisible file or something?
April 22, 200719 yr Commercial Member the clearance to taxi may have occurred prior to you switching frequencyare you looking in the modules directory for advdisplay.dll? JD Read my blog
April 22, 200719 yr yes, the dll is not there. I also did a file search on my computer and it turned up nada
April 22, 200719 yr Moderator If your display looks like the one I posted then you're using FSUIPC for the display so we can forget about advdisp.dll as it doesn't appear to reside on your system anyway. If you want to test hearing instructions to other aircraft taxi to the holding point but don't switch away from GND when told to. At a busy airport you will hear GND talking to other aircraft.Cheers, Ray (Cheshire, England). April 22, 200719 yr ok I will try that out for ATC...as for the display popping open uncommanded, how do I stop that?? how should I prgram the key in FSUIPC?? I set the ` key to "close" the advdisplay window...is this correct?EDIT**latest news is I still cannot hear RC interact with AI..I can hear MS do it fine but they never talk to RC
April 23, 200719 yr Commercial Member and you have interact with ai, and ai chatter checked?if you want to make me a log, instructions are at the top of the forummake a log, duplicate the problem, send me the log, and tell me what ai you think i should be saying something to in the email. i'll look at the log, and tell you why it didn't happenalso make sure you have the latest fsuipc loadedjd JD Read my blog
April 23, 200719 yr I don't believe that you can stop the RC/FSUIPC ATC window from opening. If you close it, it will open when anything in the window changes. Because miles to the next waypoint is shown in the window, it will open at least every mile. --Tom________[a href=http://www.corpairamerica.com]http://mysite.verizon.net/tjrush/tjrcaasig.jpg[/a] Tom
April 23, 200719 yr Moderator If you have the registered version of FSUIPC you can assign a button to toggling that display on/off. Look at Buttons/Assignments in the FSUIPC interface.I'm at work so cannot tell you the exact command but I'll supply it when I get home around 1600GMT.Strange about you not hearing other aircraft. This cropped up a year or so ago and that user didn't have 'interact with Ai' checked. Log to JD should resolve that one.Cheers. Ray (Cheshire, England). April 23, 200719 yr I do have interact with AI checked but I still cannot hear a thing. I do have the registered version of FSUIPC but I still cannot fully understand the command. Should I assign it to "toggle" the advdisplay or to "close view" neither one really works...I have to right click and close it to close it...but I can open it via my assigned key. And, is it true that I cant keep the window from autoopening? I dont want it to open every time something in the window changes.
April 23, 200719 yr Here's what I have in the General section of FSUIPC.ini to toggle the window.AdvDisplayHotKey=88,10for ctrl-x. When taxiing it does not reappear as the runway distance changes as I recall. There are no other entries regarding this as I recall that I used. Manually adding this also works on the non-registered version for those that want it.The key definitions are in the advanced guide for FSUIPC.Check your FSUIPC entries against this.As always, if you manually edit your fsuipc.ini back it up.
