  1. 1st real legs for 2 years :)Very uneventful, but visibility at PASV sucks....I did see the runway for a minute, but then..BRGDSSven Sorensen, EKCHhttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/185122.jpg
  2. Hi MikeHope you get your act (that's your PC) together and will be able to join in. You do have a few days to get that done.Since you are a Google Eatch Wiz: IF you get your PC going, how about doing something like you did for C/C USA? I'm thinking bonus airports, required airports, corridors and Jeroens draft. Would that be possible? I found your KML's to be an enormous help visualising what we are doing. If made public, it would also be a help for the other teams, but if so, be sure to leave out our planned route... :)BRGDSSven Sorensen, EKCH
  3. Hi Rob,The runway may be paved, but that is no guarantee that it is also lighted. We expect to see more of these, especially in Africa.BRGDSSven Sorensen, EKCH
  4. Hi JeroenThis is good news, indeed!!! You have been missed and not just because of your flying/planning skills!!!And congratulations on your new job and study - backk to the school bench, eh?A warm "WELCOME BACK",Sven Sorensen, EKCH
  5. Mike, Well, as I said: This SHOULD only be a problem with airliners. Actually, it may be double Jeopardy: As you bank, your right wing (pretty long on a -400) will be that many feet lower than the fuselage, and I think that is where the problem lies. In smaller aircraft you can keep it higher for a bit longer, then drop quickly towards the threshold, then recover. Also, the wings are not so #### long.I really think it's about altitude, I have done several take-offs with LDS-767 from RWY 31. If you don't dawdle near the ground, you are in great shape. So: Doable, but risky.BRGDSSven Sorensen, EKCH
  6. OuchWell, these things happens, so don't be discouraged. However, in the race you would have been cutting it too close! You must always have fuel for at least one go-around, so in this case you should have picked a closer airport, or another plane.I probably tend to take too much fuel, but that on the other hand gives you the option of taking the baton further, if you run into favorable winds. Just be sure to let people know you are doing this, so the next guy can set up in good time. One more thing: You posted your "Baton Grab" as reply to the previous "Baton Free". Instead, you should post your "Baton Grab" as reply directly to the first post in the thread. Your "Baton Free" is correctly posted as reply to your own "Baton Grab".Once again we can see the value of all this training. This is where we can discuss and try out stuff, without penalty :)BRGDSSven Sorensen, EKCH
  7. Hi Mike (HiMike :))Sorry, to hear that - but do stick around and if the weather (and your rig!) cools, do join the race at that time. You know you will always be welcome!BRGDSSven Sorensen, EKCH
  8. Hi again,Well, if that is the case, I will NOT recommend using an airliner. Reason: Unless you turn off crash detection, you will either do a building crash or you're too high. I've tried a number of times with the P-38 a bit high (but not too hot). No problems there, but I've yet to put the default B747 down with crash detect on. And of course, in RTW you must fly with CD on.In fact, it's a bit of a showstopper for me. It feels silly not know whether or not you got it right, when CD is off. Of course, I usually know, but still...Too bad, it's really such a great scenery!!!BRGDSSven Sorensen, EKCH
  9. Reggie, I swear you have read my mind!I have the fantastic 9Dragons scenery, and I was just thinking: What a great idea to have Kai Tak in the race! Think I know what I'll be doing tomorrow :)One question, though: Are we talking landing with any aircraft or should it be an airliner for a real challenge?EDIT: If you want to try out the 9Dragons scenery, be advised that the install procedure is a bit tricky (but very well documented), so you don't want to install this the night before the race!!!BRGDSSven Sorensen, EKCH
  10. Gotcha................... :) :) :)BRGDSSven Sorensen, EKCH
  11. Hey, DCGood to see you flying again, man! It's been too long....BRGDSSven Sorensen, EKCH
  12. ---and even if you do have a router, it needs to have its firewall enabled (UPnP can only open ports in the firewall, if there is a firewall). If you also have a software fireall, you need to configure that as well, ie manually open the ports (23456(UDP) and 6073 (UDP) both in and out).Brgds Sven Sorensen, EKCH
  13. Bringing the baton ashore, so we can have some fun in South AmericaOn TS and RV52BRGDSSven Sorensen, EKCH
  14. I need to say, that UPnP is the *magic bullet* ONLY if have a router between you and yhe Internet. If you're just connected with a cable modem, you need to open ports in your firewall. UPnP is a hardware feature.Sven Sorensen, EKCH
