  8. Hi MattGood finally seeing you in Washington :)Yes, I too would like to see Carthago destroyed (I've never learned latin, but I'm pretty sure that must be the sentence one of Rome's senators (was it Cicero?) used to end all his speeches) :)My vote would beOption A and B - same levelNOT Option C - too hard to implement!BRGDSSven Sorensen, EKCH

Whether that will be FS9 or FSX remains to be seen - I haven't got my FSX yet...BRGDSSven Sorensen, EKCH

  14. Hi GuysFirst of all, a Merry Christmas to you all! I do hope you take some time off from your excellent support, and spend the time with your families! But when you have done so, I have a question :)Today I was going to fly some VFR, but the PC where ASV resides refused to start! It turned out to be a busted PWR supply, but it made me think about putting a copy of ASV on my laptop - for emergency purposes! Question 1: Am I allowed to do that?If so, Question 2: I have been using ActiveSky in its various incarnations for a long time now. Looking at my Downloads folder, I'm not sure that I have an AS copy that is NOT an upgrade (and thus requires a full copy to work), later than HIFI-AS2004.zip. That's quite an old buddy, and I would hate to have to install all later versions to get up to par. So here's the question: Is there a full version I can download (if I provide proof of purchase of course), so that I can skip the task of installing AS2004, upgrade to AS2004.5, then to ASV and on to ASV6?Brgds,Sven Sorensen, EKCH
  15. I agree - this is just incredible! There must be a way to get this to the masses :)BRGDSSven Sorensen, EKCH
  16. Hi ScottWell, there is really no need to give up, and there is really no need to be sceptical about putting DLL's in your system folder. I agree that NORMALLY you wouldn't have to do that - on the other hand, the system folder is the ONLY place where Windows is always able to locate and load a given DLL; the author has probably just chosen the easiest way out. There are a number of rules Windows follows to locate a DLL, you can look them up if you want to - but they are hard to follow, and they vary a bit with the version of Windows. The concern of others in this thread seems the to be related to: What-if-it-a-virus? Well, if it is, then it doesn't matter where it is located: If it is loaded and executed, you're sold whether or not it is in the system directory. The directory you want is most likely C:WinntSystem32, assuming Windows is installed in you C: drive. 17. Yaeh, I had a bit of nausea too - until I disabled the ROLL axis! I found out when I tried to do "Press you head to the cockpit window/canopy and look down", I tended to 'roll' my head a bit - which in turn caused the whole picture to tilt! Without the ROLL axis, there are just no worries!!!BRGDSSven Sorensen, EKCH
  18. Well, in VC view there is TrackIR - of course, it's not free but it works very well and is not limited to just turning the head... You can lean backward and forward as well, in fact you can do anything!Just the other day, I was sitting in my P-38. I leaned forward and looked down 'over' the steering column - there was a whole bunch of switches I had never seen!BRGDSSven Sorensen, EKCH
  19. Hi,Just got mine, bought it from eDimensional. They had a -20$ offer + the fact that they are UK based saved me all the trouble with VAT and customs and yadayada.Ordered on a sunday, had them thursday at my door here in Copenhagen :)BRGDSSven Sorensen, EKCH
  20. Hi,Since I haven't FSX (still waiting for my convention copy :( ), I can't comment on the Airbus model in FSX - but I do know a bit about the real life Airbus autothrottle.Basically, you only use the throttles in the 'normal' way during taxi. Instead it is divided into 4 segments by 5 detents: TOGA, FLX MCT (derate takeoff), CL (max climb), IDLE and MAX REV (reverse). The authrottle is active in all modes, except TOGA and MAX REV, unless you specifically turn it off. At takeoff, you set your throttles to FLX MCT (or TOGA for full rated takeoff). As you reach a certain altitude, the MCDU calls for "LVR CLB", and you set you thottles to CL. You keep it there until you reach Top Of Descent, then you move them to IDLE. On landing, you will get an aural warning "RETARD" and you move the throttles to the MAX REV detent. To reverse, you pull up the throttles to clear the detent and move them into the MAX REV segment.Again, this is what you do in the real plane (and in PSS' airbus), but I can't know how well FSX model this.As for your trim problem: Yes, it could well be you're fighting the autopilot - and you won't be the first...HTH & BRGDSSven Sorensen, EKCH
  21. Hi all,I think some folks here are a bit confused over DIMM vs DUAL CHANNEL memory. DIMM's are the way individual RAM blocks are built (explained above), while Dual Channel enables you to access 2 RAM blocks at a time, almost doubling the bandwidth. Of course, you need 2 blocks at a time to do that, and they must also be identical! As for the 3GB discussion, I'm reluctant to 'join the fray'... OK, my 2 cents: Whether or not a given process can use all of 'it's' 2GB may be less important than this question: What does XP do with the available/surplus memory? It uses it for caching! Well, probably not all of it, but Mitch repeatedly refers to his system as "stutterfree". It think that is because much more of FSX's data is being read into memory, since there is room for it => less stutters and that in turn is also keeping FPS up.Will 3 GB then work for all? I don't think so, it also depends on what else you have running. Lets see a couple of other guys come up with the same results, then we can judge it. But thanks for the tip in any case, Mitch!BRGDSSven Sorensen, EKCH
  22. Just a little bump to keep it on page 1 - but as no one has replied, I guess no one has tried it, so I'll just do this one bump.BRGDSSven Sorensen, EKCH
  23. Hi allPerhaps someone has tried this and can give me some advice and the pro's and con's of this idea:I have a pc with a builtin sound chip. For better performance and sound, I added an Audigy ZS and disabled the onboard chip. But could I use the onboard chip for, say, Game Commander or Teamspeak and keep the FS sounds on the Audigy? I'm a careful guys, so I don't want to just try it. My system works execllent, and I wouldn't want to see it messed up if it chokes on 2 sound cards.TIA & BRGDSSven Sorensen, EKCH
  24. Hi,Do check your engine gauges and see if they are producing the same thrust. Also, go to external view and look at your rudder. You should be able to spot any rudder deflection visually.BRGDSSven Sorensen, EKCH
