  1. "George" =The Airline Pilots affectionate name for the Autopilot Sytem :-lolPaul GollnickTechnical Operations/Customer Operational SupportPrecision Manuals Development Groupwww.precisionmanuals.com
  2. JasonMost of the pilots I have flown with do exactly that. While being Vectored on to the approach they will arm the APP button, Once the a/c is established on the LOC and G/S they disconnect and hand fly the remainder of the approach. If you really want a challenge, turn the A/P off and arm the approach mode, this will give you the Flight Director guidance to hand fly the Approach just like the A/P wouldRegardsPaul:-coolPaul GollnickTechnical Operations/Customer Operational SupportPrecision Manuals Development Groupwww.precisionmanuals.com
  3. EricGod I wish my fleet at work had that option!! :-lolSorry, no malfunctions today Captain, selected that option OFF before we took off today :-lol :-lol RegardsPaul :-coolPaul GollnickTechnical Operations/Customer Operational SupportPrecision Manuals Development Groupwww.precisionmanuals.com

  8. Randy,Nah, don't get to fly (although I have been through 757 Ground School and initial sim training) but ride the Jumpseat alot and have lots of friends in Flight Operations. I am lucky enough to work the bird everyday though so I have become fairly well aquainted with her :-) Nothing like the Maytag fleet (as we call it) Just gas and Go.RegardsPaul:-coolPaul GollnickTechnical Operations/Customer Operational SupportPrecision Manuals Development Group[www.precisionmanuals.com]
  9. Eric,Just checked it now (0259z) and it looks to be upTry it again. appears some new screenies may have appearedRegardsPaul:-coolPaul GollnickTechnical Operations/Customer Operational SupportPrecision Manuals Development Groupwww.precisionmanuals.com
  10. Randy is correct, Chasing the FD leads to really ugly situations ;-)When we first got the 757 the procedure for T/O was nose up 7 degrees until positive rate then nose up 22 degrees for initial climb. :-eek They finally changed the procedure because it scared the pax :-) (great for nose abatement though passed thru 1500 ft RA by the end of the runway. ) :-lol now only a 17 degree pitch for initial climb.RegardsPaul:-coolPaul GollnickTechnical Operations/Customer Operational SupportPrecision Manuals Development Group[www.precisionmanuals.com]
  11. Hi Simon,Boy, I wonder what they thew at those poor guys :-) (new seat covers please) This is the reason real pilots get 6 weeks of grd school and recurrent training before they hop in a 737NG with a boatload of people ;-) . Fact is Simulation can never match reality (but it is getting closer all the time) :-) In all honesty, a lot of the graphics in FS far exceed the graphics in our Full motion sims. (scenery only of course) They exterior graphics have this horrible 65 hz refresh rate and virtually no scenery except the basic airport and after a 4 hr session your eyes hurt so bad, you are ready for a drink. :-) (of course the 25 emergencies that popped up didn't help either). Now if we could just figure out a way to tie the FS scenery and weather to the full flight deck instrumention of the Sim LEFTERIS :-)RegardsPaul:-coolPaul GollnickTechnical Operations/Customer Operational SupportPrecision Manuals Development Groupwww.precisionmanuals.com
  12. Max,The 757 Pilots I have flown with leave the FD on but they very seldom use it for guidance. Most of the time the A/C is on autopilot until established on the approach (ie G/S and LOC captured). Then the crew, once the A/C is configured for landing the crew will usually disconnect the A/P and hand fly the Raw Data displayed for the ILS on the ADI to landing. The FD when coupled to the A/P for a Cat IIIB does an amazing job of keeping the A/C right on track without any major corrections however it is pretty hard to hand fly FD commands on approach. I believe the FD is left on only because it would be extra work to turn it off :-)RegardsPaul:-coolPaul GollnickTechnical Operations/Customer Operational SupportPrecision Manuals Development Groupwww.precisionmanuals.com
  13. LuigiUnfortunately I don't have the DF737 so I can't say for certain but do the throttles advance past 70% N1? T/O thrust should be near 100%. 70% isn't nearly enough thrust for a t/oRegardsPaul:-cool
  14. Hi Sean,The MCP I believe they are refereing to is this http://www.mcp747.com/ It is a near perfect replica of the Boeing MCP installed on everything from the 737 to the 747-400. If you happen to have an extra couple hundred lying around not being spent on a PMDG product, I highly recomend one. Lord knows I would love to have one of these at home. RegardsPaul :-coolPaul GollnickTechnical Operations/Customer Operational SupportPrecision Manuals Development Group[www.precisionmanuals.com]
  15. Hi BjornThe Engine core is the same (hence the CFM56 designation) but the dash numbers for the Airbus and the Boeing are different. The 737 uses a CFM56-22B or similar depending on engine thrust rating while the Airbus A319/A320's I work are CFM56-5a1, 5a3 or 5a5 depending on model and thrust requirements. Major difference I could see (not having worked on the 737 alot) are the gearbox and accessory drives. RegardsPaul:-cool
  16. Ryan,I run an AMD 1700XP with a similar setup except that I have a Geforce ti4400My experience is simlar to Roberts in that the most drop I have seen is in the 1-2 FPS department. 17. Nameless :-)First things first, please sign your posts so we know who you are. :-)Second, the panel will not disapoint believe me (see the screenshots on our Homepage). If you want a 737 that has little things like Accurate Aircraft Systems, Flight Management system and proper Nav and Efis diplay, this is it. This will truly be an amazing package when all is said and done. As for the flight model, last I heard we were only able to get it within 1-2% of the Boeing specs so some work left to be done here :-)RegardsPaul:-coolPrecision Manuals Development Technical Operations/ Customer Operations Support
  18. Ed,Did you uninstall the old video card driver before installing the new card? If not may want to try uninstalling the driver with the old card installed and then installing the new card tosee if it boots on the default windows driver.Hope this helpsRegardsPaul:-cool
  19. Adam,Pitot or Probe heaters turned on? Sounds like Icing if its only in the clouds. Just a thoughtRegardsPaul :-cool
  20. MatthiasActually, I don't know if Robert will be willing to share this info since he is quite shy about being an airline captain :-xxrotflmaoI'm sure he'll be happy to explain what it is he does after he gets off of that 15 day trip to NRT :-xxrotflmaoRegardsPaul:-coolPrecision ManualsTechnical Operations

Hey Wallace,Can one safely assume that the dashed purple line is where whats left of your a/c will go if you don't correct your flight path. *:-*Actually, I saw the article on this system, looks pretty cool. Lots of information being presented to avoid CFIT.RegardsPaul:-cool
  25. Norbert,All of PMDG Aircraft are built and designed from the Boeing Drawings so they are normally quite accurate. I have noticed that when you zoom in close to the aircraft in MSFS that it sometimes has a tendency to play with the look of things a bit. Looks good to me but as always this is IMHO :-)RegardsPaul:-cool
