  3. GPS approaches are not necessarily designed to get you aligned with the rynway, but near the it. Theoretically, you'll bust out of the clouds before the missed approach point If I knew the exact approach and could see the chart, I could tell you how it would be flown in the real-world. Though, even without the chart, I can give you a vague overview. You would fly the approach, sticking to the altitudes given on the approach plate, if you see the runway at any time during the approach -and it is clear that you will not lose sight of it again (i.e. no clouds are going to pass between you and it on the way down) - then you simply fly visually from there on in.   4. Yes, the occasional erratic behavior has been a problem with the PIC, but it seems less with the latest update. I've been flying it rather regularly and have become rather intimate with its quirks.   6. I have the PIC and the PMDG 737s and the first and more crucial difference between the packages is that they cover different generations of 737. The PIC covers the 300-500 series (known as the Glass Guppies) and the PMDG covers the 600-900 (known as the Next Generation Guppies). As such, they look different visually both externally and internally, though the overhead panels are similar. Performance wise, I get about the same frame rates with the PIC being slightly lower. As for aircraft performance, I get less fuel efficiency with the PIC 737 as is realistic. If you don't care about other 737 variants, then the PMDGs are fine.   7. The difficulty is in that you would be downloading the fully working aircraft and then you'd have no incentive to pay for it - you already have it. To fix this, extra programing would have to be in place to destroy/alter files so that the aircraft no longer functioned after the demo period. This is easier to do with utilities as they are things outside of FS that interact with FS.   9. My question is, are DX-10 aircraft backwards compliant with XP? Most of the articles I have read on DX-10 seem to speak of backwards compatibility issues. Something about DX9 and DX10 render paths being incompatible. If so, than it is a bar that is alienating to a majority of users. Though I do support that there should be a DX-10 compliant version for those that use DX-10, but then there also must be a DX9 compatible version available.   10. I use the PIC737 in FSX, though I've had it since FS9 and have lately been returning there since all my scenery add-ons are there. The NGs still have me stuck in FS9 whenever my VA assigns a 700 or 800 flight to me (We don't pick the planes or the routes, they get sent to us like a real-world dispatch), but I mentioned it for comparison since they are both 737 aircraft, but model two entirely different generations of aircraft. Sorry for the confusion.My old FS9 liveries are working fine on the plane in FSX, though I run Windows XP still and likely will for sometime to come. Since the aircraft is a port from FS9 to FSX, that is the main issue with DX10.   12. 1) I honestly have to say that the dynamics of the default aircraft are dumbed down so that the average idiot can fly the plane without troubles. The add-on aircraft, especially the payware tend to fly much better. Having flown many hours in a Piper Warrior III and the Cherokee line in general, I can say that I was pleasantly surprised with Australia Simulations' Piper Warrior II/III package as all my real-world flying experience worked in their Warrior III. My scope is rather limited though by the fact that the only aircraft I have flown often enough to become familiar with are the Cessna 150 and 152 and the Piper Cadet and Warrior III which are both Cherokee aircraft and amazingly different in handling.2)It's not very good at it at all. Though so much of the stall is experienced in things that the sim just can't easily replicate: The mushy unresponsiveness of the controls, the feeling of being stalled and the sudden who-the-####-pulled-the-floor-out-from-under-me drop.3)I can't answer this accurately as I am not an airline pilot, nor have I flown anything that the airlines fly (as stated above). I will say though that all planes are subject to the same fundamentals, so at least they will leave less of a crater than someone that is unfamiliar. They may have the sense to use flaps more properly, drop the gear, and try and hold a speed they may even be able to hold a course and follow a glideslope. However, it's like going from using a racing sim with a computer steering wheel and going racing.It also depends on the user. If the user spends all his time trying to slam the plane into things then he's not going to be much use. The goal is to bring you down near target until minimums and then from there you land visually and ignore whatever the instruments tell you. If this is a CATIII approach though, then yes, there's some issues. Felts Field has one that brings you in at an angle to keep from hitting the surrounding hills.   14. I have heard of the issue and it seems that it has been known to mess up the dll.xml (something about using the wrong carriage return symbols).   17. It should be kept in mind that the 737PIC and the PMDG 737NG packages are different aircraft. The PIC covers the old "Glass Guppies", the 300-500 series, while the PMDG birds are the NextGen 600-900s with the full glass panels and efficient engines. I own both for FS9 and upgraded the PIC to FSX. I enjoy both equally well and they function nicely for me.   18. I myself was 5 when I first touched Flight Simulator. Back then it was on a 286 and was the original. Though I was obsessed with aviation before that, apparently before I was a year old by most accounts.I'm currently stuck in between the private license and the commercial though thanks to being in the gray zone between my family making too much for me to qualify for financial aid, but too poor to fund me.   19. Are you using any planes with gyroscopic heading indicators? If so, check to see if you have the setting for gyroscopic precession checked. The midrange of the sliders is generally the midrange of computers at the time of release. I still can't run Half-Life 2 with settings maxed, it stutters, sound skips, and eventually crashes with inadequate memory errors. In fact, I haven't been able to run any game with it's graphics settings full out since about 2004.I run a 32.GHZ with 1536MB of RAM and a nVidia GeForce4 Ti4100 with 128MB of RAM. I get about 10-15fps with sliders maxed in FS9, and about 2fps with them maxed in FSX.   22. Don't lose heart. As with FS9, The maxed out settings were designed to work with future top of the line computers anticipated within the next year or two.   25. For aircraft without an EGT, like most normally aspirated small aircraft, you would more than likely use a chart from the POH. The Piper Warrior IIIs that I fly in in the real world have cruise charts.The way these work is that you determine whether to use 70%, 60%, or 50% power for the cruise, each has different fuel burn and often are only 2 or 3 knots TAS from each other. From there, it's a matter of interpolating charts for your cruise altitude and temperature aloft. It'll yield an RPM setting to shoot for in cruise.From there, there are two methods of leaning: Best Power, and Best Economy. This is a general rule and different engines and POHs may specify a different method for each. I'm just going to share the one I know. Best Economy leaves the throttle full and leans the mixture until the RPMs reach the desired setting.
