  1. Jim and Damian, Have you managed to find the source of the lock-ups when importing a plan? Since installing build 87, ActiveSky is useless to me. Once I load a flight plan and hit process, it locks up hard. ChuckCYXU
  2. Actually, I've been kicking that idea around with a bit of a twist. There is a company called Saitek that makes USB joysticks that are programmable and have an onboard eeprom(memory chip). I have a Saitek X-45 Hotas right now. It has six analog axis and a whole wack of buttons. I figure I should be able to hack it with some work. Also, you can apparently have more than one installed at a time. So if you know of anyone with a spare X-45 that's looking for a new home...ChuckCYXU
  3. Tried to import a flightplan twice this morning. Locked up hard both times. Couldn't even get out of it with task manager, had to hard boot. Hmmmm...ChuckCYXU
  4. Hello all, After alot of debate, I broke down and got PMDG's 737NG package. I don't know why I waited sooooo long! I love it, the wife hates it, it's perfect. Anyhow, last night I had a problem with my panel. I had been using a spot plane top down view(control+s), wanted to see how accurately I passed over a waypoint. When I went back into the cockpit, none of my panels were accessible. I couldn't even access anything on the main panel. All I got was a cursor arrow and a flashing hourglass. I remember a while back seeing something about a trapped control key, but couldn't find it with the search. Could this be it?ChuckCYXU
  5. Well, I tried it last night. Had FS9 running with cockpit view on the main monitor with Active Sky 2004, opened up a spot plane view, undocked and moved it the second monitor. Before I streched it to full size of the monitor, I was getting about 21 to 24.5 fps(locked at 25 fps). Once I took it to full screen size, my fps dropped to about 12 to 15.Was an interesting experiment, but I'm spoiled now using the second monitor for gauges and FSNav. What I am planning for my next computer is to install a second video card, PCI, so that I can run three monitors.Have Fun,ChuckCYXU
  6. I have a GF4Ti4200 card as well. I mostly use my second monitor for gauges and FSNav. Flying the PMDG 737, I undock my PFD and FMC, then drag them to the second monitor. When I want to check something on FSNav, I just hit the F9 key to display it over my gauges and then hit it again to show my gauges again.I tried once to use a TV on the s-video out, but was using an old TV and RCA cables. The resolution was awful.I'll have to have a go at different views on the second monitor to see if I can get anything for frame rates.ChuckCYXU
  7. Are you using the latest AVC software? The beta was extended, requiring another download recently.Chuck CYXU
  8. Sorry to hear that you're having troubles. We might need a little more info to try to help you though. Firstly, you disabled UPnP, that's good. Are you using a router or a firewall? Have you tried to open any ports? There are listings of various ports that need to be open at the Vatsim Pilot Resource Center. Even though SBRelay is used as an interface, it needs to see those ports. Let us know what you have and what you have tried and we'll see if help can be found.ChuckCYXU
  9. Hi, Unfortunately, I think that SB3 is going to use the same 5x5 library that AVC uses. You can post a question on the SB3 forum at:www.squawkbox.caChuckCYXU
  10. One thing to try. Next time you go to start Squawkbox, don't start from a shortcut. Go to Start/Programs/Squawkbox. There have been reports that using a desktop icon or shortcut can cause grief.Good Luck,ChuckCYXU
  11. Hi Steve,Check out this link, specifically the top item. See if this helps and let me know. In retrospect, I don't think it is a problem on the connection side, most likely on the host machine.http://chocolatesoftware.com/sbrelay/help.htmlChuck CYXU
  12. You say that you turned off your firewalls? What type of firewalls are we talking about? How are you connecting to the internet(direct from host machine/LAN/router)? It will undoubtly be a port setting somewhere. Let us know the above and I'll dig out my notes.ChuckCYXU
  13. Thank you very much. Couldn't seem to find it in the search engine. That just what I wanted to know and I shall look forward to it's release.Chuck CYXU
  14. I'm not asking when the next version of PIC will be available, just had a quick question. I am thinking about building a home cockpit and would like to model it's functionality after the PIC. Does anyone know if it will be possible to address the internal functions? ie will there be an SDK available?I, like many others appreciate the amount of work it takes to get the realism and accuracy to the level of the PIC. I am more than happy to wait for another quality product that will give us all many hours of enjoyment and challenge.ChuckCYXU
  15. Hello all, I am currently deciding on a base model to build a simpit. In the running are PMDG's 737NG and the upcoming V2 PIC767(whenever it gets here). My question is, has PMDG published any SDKs that would help a builder interface his cockpit? If not, are there plans in the near future to do this? I really want to take my simulations to the next level and without this info, that would not be possible. I do not want to get a product and spend many hours learning all the ins and outs of the systems, only to find out that I cannot use it in my future setup.Respectfully,ChuckCYXU
  16. I know this may sound too simple to be true, but are you starting Squawkbox from a desktop icon? There have been reports that it may not start properly in this fashion. Next time try starting it from the Start/Programs/Squawkbox.exe route and see if that is what is causing the grief. Also, you may want to dump your Host sb.dll and reinstall it, an outside chance it may have a problem.Hope this helps
  17. Back to basics. You are starting and using SBRelay first? Are you joining(not hosting) a multiplayer session within FS2004? It sounds like SBRelay is not connecting properly with Squawkbox and FS. You didn't say how you are connected to the internet, straight to a modem or through a router? Routers have been known to cause balding due to hair pulling. :-hmmm
  18. This sounds more like an issue with your multiplayer setup. Next time you log on to Vatsim, go check the SBRelay page to see if it has added your aircraft and those of any other players. Make sure you check Servinfo so that you start in an area with other players. Let us know what you find. I'm betting your aircraft will be listed but no others. How is your computer connected to the internet? Straight to a modem or on a network(router)?
  19. I understand you seem to have it working for now, however, when you cannot find SBRelay in your multiplayer session and you use a router, there is a setting that needs to be disabled. If you go into your router settings and disable UPnP(Universal Plug and Play), you should find SBRelay from then on. You can sometimes manage to connect with it enabled, but SBRelay will not load any Squawkbox traffic into FS9. If you are connected to Vatsim and you check SBRelay to find that you are the only traffic loaded, odds are you still have comunication issues.ChuckCYXU
  20. Been there, done that! Believe it or not, making your computer a DMZ within the router won't help you on some makes. Get into your router's advanced features and disable Universal Plug and Play(UPnP).I've had the EXACT same problem and that fixed mine right up. Using a DLink Wireless router.
  21. Routers can be a real pain in the backside! It took me two weeks to find all the info to get mine to work. First of all, are you able to connect to SBRelay in the multiplayer menu? If not, you will have to disable Universal Plug and Play(UPnP) in your router. Also, you will need to open a port for Squawkbox 6809 Both SBRelay 6703 UDPI don't know if Squawkbox is UDP or TCP, I set mine to both and it works fine. Try these settings and let us know how you make out.
  22. I too had this problem where I could connect, see the aircraft on the SB TCAS, but not see them visually. ATC and other users seemed to be able to see me just fine. I also use a DLink Router. If you go into the router software under tools/misc, and disable UPnP it seems to do the trick. I'm sure if you check SBRelay after trying a failed connection, you will find that no one was added to your multiplayer session even though SB saw them. Give it a try, it worked for me. This little tidbit came straight from the SBRelay site.
  23. When I reread your post, I noticed that you made mention of a network? If this is the case, are you using a router? I have found that unless I disable the Universal Plug and Play in the router software, FS9 will not see SBRelay in the multiplayer setup. I'm not sure why this is, but it does work. This was one of the suggestions from chocolateware.
  24. I have had this exact same problem, however, mine was due to a wireless router. Every time I tried to start a multiplayer session and connect to SBRelay, it wouldn't show up. Finally solved it. Now, before I start SBRelay, I disable my network connection, start SBRelay, start FS9, join SBRelay in multiplayer, then go back and re-enable my network connection. It's a bit of a messy work around, but it seems to work OK.
  25. <This may very well be the case. I haven't checked into what port RW uses, but, I have found the info for AVC. I am using a DLink Wireless router and had to manually configure the port for AVC. That said, I have only had time to do a quick test, not an entire flight. On my applications page it reads like this...Name AVCTrigger Port 3782Trigger Type UDPPublic Port 3782Public Type UDPHave a go at that and let us know how you make out.Chuckles
