  1. I would like to clarify some things for my own benefit as I've decided to clean up my computer and remove a lot of accumulated stuff over the years which includes FS9.I installed a new hard drive and updated my OS to Win 7 Pro. As I understand it from all the other posts regarding installation under Win 7, I should install the program to its' own folder in the new C: drive and not in the "Program files" of Win 7 and turn off UAC during installation. As of this moment, FS9 is installed on the D: drive. So I plan to format that drive and install to that cleaned up drive as well. But I'm wondering, can I do a new install over the existing one one the D: drive and maintain all the sceneries and aircraft and tweaks that I now have, or will everything be disrupted? Is this even a wise thing to do?As always, I appreaciate good help here. Thanks,Jim D.
  2. Found it over at flightsim.http://www.flightsim.com/vbfs/showthread.php?229058-ATI-EAH6850-no-Anti-Aliasing-in-window-mode...Jim D.
  3. All I can say as I have for a long time is: "Dump CH Manager and use a registered version of FSUIPC". I have a CH TQ, Saitek yoke, 2 TQ's and pedals all assigned and working with FSUIPC. Just confirm that duplicate assignments don't exist in FS.Jim D.
  4. In the Buttons & Switches tab look for VIEW MODE for advancing the view and VIEW MODE REV for backward view movement. Of course this is in FSUIPC.Jim D.
  5. I'll give a portion of the answer. The VNAV and LNAV and the Auto Pilot work together when the FMC (Flight Management Computer) is used to fly the filed flight plan. The auto Pilot can be used without the FMC by entering the HDG and ALT into the MCP. While the FMC does load a SID or STAR, adjustments are made by the pilot in in the FMC in regard to speed and altitude constraints that are listed on the approach chart. Charts are printed for different departures (SIDs),and approaches(STARs)and RNAVs. GOOGLE RNAV for a lot of education that cannot always be done here. Also you can GOOGLE SIDs & STARs.[Edit] See this post in 2005 at AOPA: http://www.aopa.org/whatsnew/newsitems/2005/050901rnav.htmlThere is also a lot of info here at AVSIM, so do a search. The best education you can recieve is when you do the digging. And Welcome aboard.Jim D.
  6. My sentiments as well. In fact I posted the same thing before seeing yours'on the thread appearing above this one. From a fellow 66erJim D.
  7. As the saying goes: "If it 'aint broke, don't fix it"Jim D.
  8. Same with me. For some reason, at times one of the TQ's wouldn't function even though the green power light was on. Had to reboot the machine to get it to respond. But all has been OK for a while now, no problems. I don't know why that little problem occurred and why it went away.Jim D.
  9. I had this same issue and maybe one of the links provided by Terry includes one I posted. I traced it to a recently installed scenery. Interestingly, no one else experienced the same problem with that same scenery, even the author had no problem with it. But I did. So I removed it and all went back to normal.Jim D.
  10. Piercing is out for me and I didn't like wearing a hat as well. But I did get used to my golf visor and stapled the reflectors to the bill of the visor. The visor allows for a cooler head. One day I may change to the clip-on. But now, the visor works just fine.Jim D.
  11. Thanks for the replys. I do have MCE but haven't really used it. I'll give it go again with the IFLY. I did have a problem in the beginning as the procedure for bringing the aircraft to life was a little different than the PMDG model. While I did get the batteries to supply power, I couldn't get Ground Power to take over. Then I did the "If evertything else fails, READ THE DIRECTIONS" thing and saw where I have to go to the IFLY tab when in the window mode and check the "CONNECT Ground Power" command. Now all is coming together. Thanks for the encouragement.Jim D.
  12. Is there a paint in the Qantas colors for the IFLY 737, especially this one? I have it with the PMDG 737, but now I own the IFLY model. I've looked in the library here and at flightsim, but no paint. Would love to have it.Jim D.
  13. For those of you that have flown the PMDG 737 and now fly the IFLY 737, was there much difference in learning the flying characteristics and procedures when switching over to IFLY? I just purchased the IFLY after a few years with the PMDG. I realize that there are more systems simulated with the IFLY. So what was the most diffulcult to adjust to?I really don't relish studing the 500+ page manual if much of it is similar to PMDG, which I think, should be the case.I appreciate your input, and thank you.Jim D.
  14. I use the Saiteks, yoke and two TQ's and have them assigned to different functions using FSUIPC, registered version. Some have complained about the yoke, but I like it a lot. The only thing is that the LED that lights up the clock/stop watch on the yoke stopped functioning. No big issue for me as I hardly ever used it. It also comes with a two year warranty. Jim D.
  15. I would not be without the registered version. Another fantastic feature is that one can assign all the functions so that each aircraft is unique without having to reassign functions in FS. For example, since I have three TQ's, I can assign make indiviual assignments for different aircraft and FSUIPC remembers them all. So I have TQ's set for 1& 2 engine jets, 2 & 4 engine prop planes along with their respective prop and mixture assignments, for 4 engine planes, single engine ones, all without having to go into FS and reassign all axis or button nor key strokes. So I have all the panel functions of the PMDG 737 assigned to keystrokes, flaps, throttles and spoilers assigned to axes, buttons assigned to various panels and functions. Then, if I want to fly another plane, like the MAAM DC3, all my assignments for that aircraft are there for the props, throttles, mixtures, whatever buttons and keystroke assignments I have made for that particular plane. So much to list and so little time to do so.Jim D.
  16. Simply that the AP will turn the aircraft to the tuned NAV localizer. Not really clearly stated, but read the context of the message and you can figure it out.Jim D.
  17. The horizontal line will begin moving downward. It would be beneficail for you to read some tutorials and information on the web to get a better grasp of these procedures. You will also have something to reference if you do. Here is one site for your lessons: http://www.navfltsm.addr.com/index.htmJim D.
  18. Glad that I could help out. Enjoy.Jim D.
  19. Enlarge the FMC window. Also, if you put your cursor toward the bottom of the number, you will get the correct input. The hotpoints for the lower numbers seems too close to the upper numbers if the FMC window is not enlarged. You can also use the keyboard of your computer to enter the information into the FMC. Just click on the black bar on the right of the FMC and the keyboard becomes active. Be sure to unlock it when done or bad things will happen in flight if you have keystrokes assigned to aircraft functions.Jim D.
  20. It is MY way of doing it. I tried both of the programs you mention and they weren't realistic in some ways as well. I don't need to put out money for programs that I didn't really like. No need to get upset about the way I set up my SIDs and STARs. To each his own. I just posted how I do it and the reader can decide for themselves what they want to do. And as I mentioned previously, it isn't realistic, but it's the way I do it .Peace,Jim D.
  21. It is possible to fly a SID or STAR in FS9 and use the default ATC. Here is how I do it: Set up your flight plan with a STAR and/or SID. Program it into the GPS or file a flight plan. Follow your SID on departure. Now ATC will tell you to make turns. Acknowledge the instructions but DO NOT FOLLOW THEM. Continue on with your planned SID. Now ATC will badger you to make the requested turn. Again, do nothing but follow your plan. Eventually, ATC will catch up to you when you establish your course and you can procedure on your way. Follow the same procedure on arrival. If you do not answer at least the first request, ATC will cancel your flight plan.Or, you can file an VFR plan, follow your SID, then when on course, request to file an IFR plan.I know that this is not realistic, but ATC is not all that realistic either. So, I just do it MY WAY!Jim D.
  22. Yes, I have a flatten file for KSEA that was created by another person. PM me and I'll send it to you. Be sure to include an email address.Jim D.
  23. Since you haven't posted a screen shot of the latest view you have, it's hard to know what the exact problem is at this point. I had a similar issue and used the file called Acropolis.zip and it fixed the KLAS elevation problems. Check the following post as this is where I received the help: http://forum.avsim.net/topic/319152-klas-las-vegas/page__p__1881400__hl__ilovetofly__fromsearch__1#entry1881400Jim D.
  24. Thanks for the post. I didn't see this on the front page, or maybe, it wasn't there. But thanks for the heads-up notice.
