A very good question. I must admit that the description wasn't entirely right there. Being within the high detail coverage area of Irvine the KNTK hangars are included of course (see attached screenshot). Even KSNA is included with some additional detail and that balloon stationed at El Toro is also there. Bests, Sascha
  2. Well explained, jahman. As the scenery developer I can only speak for the scenery itself, not the installers and the servers that are both provided by my publisher. Would you mind if I quote your comments in the Aerosoft forum's thread mentioned above? (you could also post your comments right there if that's an option for you). The installer and server guys are always around there and certainly won't mind some constructive feedback to comment to.Bests,Sascha
  3. Hi, I'm the developer on Antarctica X. After developing a project like this I couldn't resist to check the forums and see how the feedback is and answer some questions if there are any. Glad you like the idea of doing something remote as Antarctica. As far as I can remember when testing the final installer from Aerosoft a few days ago, the download is indeed a single file. But once downloaded and unpacked you get a few files that are small enough to perfectly fit them on two DVDs. About downloading itself there is a thread in Aerosoft's forums:http://forum.aerosof...em-downloading/ I have to admit there are not that many penguins in the scenery as yet. But there's still more then enough content to come up with this - like hundred thousands of icebergs, a detailed coastline and so much more!I really hope that Antarctica X will be great success. I'm still full of ideas what else could be done (camp helipads around McMurdo, 1-2 more detailed bases and a few more millions of pengiuns, lol). If the sales are as good as we expect there is a good chance for an update with additional content in the future.Bests,Sascha

Hi! Anyone knows what happened to this series after the AVSIM database was hacked? Most of the files still seem to be missing.I'm currently working on "Antarctica X" and thought it would be nice to recommend this series in the manual for the Twin Otter shuttle flights from Calgary to Antarctica. Bests,Sascha
  5. Hi Guys!Just wanted to ask if there's anything new like the good old CVA Converter to convert FSDS files to 3DS or Gmax? Maybe some tool that can even convert the material/texture assignments?Bests,Sascha
  6. Hi!Does anyone of you know how I can contact Bill Melichar? The e-mail address mentioned in his readme's (Boeing707320...) doesn't work anymore. :(Just wanted to send him some photos of Guam airport (I've been there in january).Sasa

    >I was looking at it...but where are you going to fly from>there (Lukla) to?Well, there are two more airfields included plus a provisional helipad. All in all the following airfields are included:LuklaSyngbochePhapluMt. Everest Basecamp (helipad)Sasa
  8. Hello Guys,I wondering how I can do an visibility tweak, as done in MDLTweaker, directly in the ASM file. Is there a description about this somewhere?I'm still having problems with MDL Tweaker II Alpha on my two systems together large MDL files, that's why I want to find a solution to get around this.Sasa
  9. Good to know! Thanks Holger! :)
  10. Hi!I placed some landclasses in Ground2k4 and now I'm wondering why the snow/ice areas have some "funny" lines running through them when as long as you are not close.I can remember that I read about this bug one or two years ago and now I'm wondering if someone found a sollution in the meantime?Sasa
  11. > It can give you the option of using only one season (which will show > up when flying in any season, too), or using the entire set. This is my problem. I don't want to use the entire set, but only 3 textures without all 6 seasonal textures in the output.Sasa
  12. Hello,I'm trying to create a custom terrain using resample.exe with the following season textures:Summer for Summer, Fall and SpringWinter for Winter and HardWinterLightMap for NightBut everytime I run resample.exe with my ini file, it creates textures for summer, fall, spring, hardwinter, winter and night. This takes twice as much space as actually required. Is there any way to get around that?Sasa
  13. Sure. A nice idea. :)But isn't it a fact that textures for VTP2 polys have to have a size of 256x256 or less?It would be quite difficult to cover an area with around single 450 texture polygons and hope that all of them will fit to each other.Best regards,Sasa
  14. VTP Photo?I guess you mean VTP2 polygons using a texture? Same problem there:They won't show through photorealistic phototiles done with the resample tool of the Terrain SDK. :(Best regards,Sasa
  15. > Could you not draw a VTP line for the waves?> That is how they are normally placed. I know that> photo scenery supresses VTP elements, but could> it be that the wave itself is still showing? No, unfortunately it doesn't show through photo scenery. :(Sasa
  16. Hi,If you use the BGLComp SDK for FS2004 something like this code should work:<?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1"?>
  17. Hello,Is there any way to display wave effects on photorealistic scenery? At first step by XML I inserted the effect "fx_waves.fx". Of course this effect showed only once and disapeared. Then I tried using "wavecontroller.fx" which is - referring to the effects SDK - used for the default waves, too. Unfortunately NOTHING was visible there. :(My XML code for inserting the effect looks like this:Best regards,Sasa
  18. Hi,Is there anything new about converting FSDS files to Gmax? The CVA Converter is one step in this direction but often it doesn't work as it should and it is not possible to export/import the texture coordinates as well. :(Sasa
  19. Hi,I just wanted to get into converting USGS elavation data to flight simulator, but it looks like there are no tutorials for the current situation available. :(The link for DEM data mentioned in the FS2004 Terrain SDK (http://edcwww.cr.usgs.gov/glis/hyper/guide/1_dgr_demfig/index1m.html) isn't available anymore. It looks like that all USGS elevation data is obtainable from the new Seamless Server only. But that's where the problem starts. The seamless server offers so many elevation data formats that I don't even know what to download. What I get is a zip file with many files not readable by Microdem or Read_Dem.exe.Does anyone know what data format to download from the Seamless server to get it usuable for the FS2004 Terrain SDK?ThanksSascha
  20. Hello,I'm just experimenting with the Autogen Annotator after I used VTP2 and LWM for the recent years. The annotator is quite interesting for placing building on custom ground textures. But I wonder how to enhance the autogen density. When I create a tile with houses and some vegetation between the houses, the vegetation doesn't look half as dense as the default scenery city landclasses or the latest France VFR screenshots:http://www.francevfr.com/divers/Iles-08.jpgAny idea how they got it to create such a density? Maybe it isn't even autogen on this screenshot?Sasa
  21. Thanks Arno! :)Well, when you're 100 meters away from the object you may not notice it. But these object is a hangar und usually you would get close to it.So on the one hand you have to option to get worse results with DXT1 and save around 30% of texture size. On the other hand you can get the best results with 30% more texture size.I guess with the new computer systems that won't make a big difference anymore.Sascha
  22. >Sasa, do you also have mipmaps in your 8bit image? I am thinking it >could be a wrong texture scale in your GMax object. Causing the wrong >mipmap to be displayed. It doesn't matter if I use mipmaps or not. After converting there is a real difference visible. If you like, I will send you the sample image (approx. 2-3MB, 24bit) by mail.Sascha
  23. >In order to see the best quality display of textures, it is necessary >to place FS settings to the maximum. That won't help. The reduced image quality is already visible in ImageTool after converting.>I use convr8 program for converting 24 bit to 8 bit.R8? Isn't that FS5-style with 256 fixed colours?! ;)>I red that DXT1 is rather for simple things. And that DXT3 gives more >detail. Right ?DXT3 gives more detail for partly opaque/transparent parts of the image. But it doen't help to get better quality with it for all I know.Best regards,Sascha
  24. Hi Arno,Well, 8bit looks definetely better than DXT1 converted from 24bit. Just have a look at the Attachement above.I've never seen it that much before, but the bitmap converted there is quite large and has many colours in the grey range.Sascha
  25. Hello Guys,I'm just creating some large scaled textures of 1024x1024pix size. When I use PhotoImpact for converting them from 24bit to 8-bit, all works very well and there is no real difference visible. But when I use ImageTool to convert the same texture (doesn't matter if from 24-bot or 8-bit) to DXT1, there is a real lack in quality. Is is not possible to get the same result with DXT1 as with 8-bit BMP? Or are there any hints and tricks to get better results?Best regards,Sasa
