  1. You're right Rush (say that fast 5 times.... right rush, right rush...) Let there be light MS!
  2. Well, they "try" to be at least. <wink> Nothing wrong with businesses making money. That's what keeps us all afloat.
  3. Hi there OP!If you hit "Q" while flying, the Check List will appear. It will give you some more information about where your Throttle, Prop, and Mixture should be for Takeoff, Climb, and Cruise. Then, follow the information posted by the other gents above. They have explained things very well.
  4. Flight removes the toe brake assignment on "starup", not "shutdown". So, the file from the batch would be over written Bill.
  5. This post is to determine if it is just me, just my setup, or if others agree that the night lighting is not "bright" enough.I have been enjoying Flight for several days now. I think it is a FUN distraction from the real world... anyway... I just now started a "job" that had me taking some passengers to someplace (not important), but I had a VERY hard time taxi(ing) to the runway. It was night time, with overcast skies and rain. Yes... I did have all the lights on.BTW, I like the Landing light effect... it looks good... just not bright enough. Oh, and I have tried adjusting my monitor's brightness/gamma etc. That just produced a "washed out" effect.Anyone?
  6. Hi blowfield! Glad to see you're enjoying Flight (as a first timer). BTW, landing... that is the hardest part of flying... even in real life! <grin>
  7. I know, I was just testing you. BTW, I am familar with the term "City of Lakes - Dartmouth" and "City of Trees - Halifax"... what city is refered to as "The Hub"? Is that Moncton?
  8. It's not my sim of choice, but I hope you will support me anyway!?! I mean I like it, but it's not my sim of choice.
  9. There are no settings in Flight other than assigning the toe brakes under the Aircraft Control settings. Also, you may have to do this everytime you start Flight (some of us do).
  10. I know nothing about business, so I know nothing about marketing. But, I'm pretty sure you would all agree with me that MicroSoft does! As much as I would like to think that MicroSoft cares what I (and we simmers) think, I very much doubt it. They have made a business decision here folks. Nothing more, nothing less. I'm sure they had months and months of planning even before the development stage. I have read that they have 50 or so people on the payroll for this project... maybe? In order to pay all those folks, and make a profit (and that is the bottom line in ANY business), they are going to do what ever it takes to realize that profit. MicroSoft is in the business of making money. I don't say that as a way of "slamming" them... I applaud them for it. They are a money making machine folks. They are the best there is at doing that. They always have been, and will probably continue to do so for some time. If thier business model tells them there is a profit to be made by added this or that, they will... if not, they won't. We can all speculate as to what they might or might not do. But, that's all it is... speculation. The only thing I'm sure of is what I've already stated! MicroSoft is a money making machine... and I wish I had lots of shares in it! <WINK>Sorry, I forgot to say, "Great review"!
  11. Hmmmm... I wonder if the OP's request will generate a storm of protest responses (i.e. "clans?, Clans!!!, what are you takin' 'bout... we don't need not stinkin' clans!) I hope not. I'm getting bored with negative posts. <wink>Thank you for the offer to join your clan RippingMK.
  12. LOL! LOL! I had to put two "LOL" cause this forum says one "LOL" was not enough words... so, what I'm saying is, "what you said was funny, but not double-funny!" LOL!
  13. This should be a sticky guys!!! Please... it does work very well!
  14. Ya... that's the thing I don't like. Thanks Alberto! I started to look at the profiler, but didn't bother to do anything with it. But, now that you have done the work for me (LOL) I'll use it! Thanks again!
  15. RWW... it should be included as an option. And, to the topic of those "little cloud puffs"... sorry MS but they may just as well have been "sheep"... especailly when I see them all lined up... just waiting to be counted! <smile>
  16. Yes, I agree Arwen. They must know how much more appealing that would make Flight! I really hope they do. Don't get me wrong, I'm enjoying Flight... but I think it's the "little boy" inside of me that is enjoying it. The "old man" in me is going to need (dare I say it) more "reality" (or real world flying proceedures)... you know what I mean! <wink>
  17. Troll's only exist to get bites. Stop biting and he'll troll elsewhere.
  18. He's a "Troll" guys. Just ignore him and he'll get bored. Don't give him any amunition by responding.
  19. Hi Peter! As you can see, I struggled with my answer as I find that opinions vary greatly when it comes to things like this. So, here's how I usually gage this kind of subject... of something being faster/better for running something. I follow the internet to get a "feel" for what's what. I read alot about the benifit of faster CPUs and GPUs when it comes to FSX/FLIGHT... I hear very little about the benifits of SSDs verses Mecahnical drives being benificial. But I do hear lots of questions about it! See what I mean? When in comes to Flight, it appears that the GPU makes a difference. In the past, with FSX, the GPU was supposed to NOT make a difference becasue it was "quote" CPU bound. But, that did not stop anyone from buying the FASTEST GPU they could find... some even have thier GPUs in SLI mode (I do)... even though the second GPU is not being accessed.See what I mean. This stuff is subjective to the individual person. We (me included) just, "want to believe"! <grin>NO OFFENSE by the way. I am NOT saying that you are wrong about seeing better performance with your setup.
  20. As you already know, I'm sure, SSD drives are faster than mechanical drives. You could do a test comparison by installing Flight on an SSD, then a mechanical drive, and compare the results. You would "most likey" find a difference in speed... the SSD being faster. Ah,,, every "benchmark" package out there will show you that they are!The problem is, FASTER would probabaly be a "subjective" term in this case. For instance, is it "faster" enough to be worth the cost of the upgrade (and size limitation of) an SSD drive?OK, I will give you MY opinion based on the following. I have 2 x 1TB WD Black drives in Raid0, I have 1 x WD 300GB VelociRaptor, and I have 2 x 256GB Crucial SSD (one for W764/Flight and one for FSX). Flight (and FSX) don't "APPEAR" to run any differently on any of these drives. I still have the odd stutter, I still have Autogen popping up at times, etc. The only thing I find that is "somewhat" faster is the amount of time it takes to "load" the OS and large files.I personally don't think it's worth the expense to upgrade to an SSD drive... UNLESS you don't care about cost!Last year I paid (with tax and delivery) close to $1000.00 for my 2 SSDs. Was it worth it? I would have to say no!
  21. I think this is a good tip as well. But, I have gone back to using <repeat>32.00000</repeat>. I get the trim "close" to where I want it using my "trim" button, than use "Shift-Up/Down" to set it "closer". I've been doing that with FS for years... so I suppose I'm used to it! Good one! That should work for Aileron Trim... I'll check!
  22. I haven't actually seen any lightning... I have seen what I thought were lightning "flashes" reflecting off the dash!?!
