  1. I am currently setting up my new rig for FSX, and I would like to know if there is a special order in which to install add-ons to get maximum performance and minimum problems.Right now I have installed FSX gold edition, followed NickN's guide and run my config through venetubo. I have installed the PMDG NGX with EZdok and FSX global ultimate (Americas/Europe/Africa) and have a smooth running installation, externally locked at 30 fps.I would like to install the following add-ons:- Ultimate terrain X for America and Europe- REX- GEX- Active sky evolution- Radar contact 4- Nl2000 v4- Some add-on airports like Aerosoft EHAMWhat would be the best order or is it not important which add-ons you install first. Any tips in increasing the performance of these products? And finally: does anyone know of another "must have" add-on?Thanks in advance for your help,
  2. I just installed my NGX without any problems, and after configuring her according to the excellent introduction I couldn't resist just pushing the throttle forward and take her up immediately. Hard to describe the feeling.... WOW... just wow... The sounds, the beautiful visuals (Trackir and triplehead2Go) and the smoothness of it all. Constant 30 fps (externally locked). I can't stop grinning right now, and I am going to spend a LOT of time with this beautiful lady... Thanks PMDG for this stunning add-on. Cheers,
  3. NGX LANDING CHECKLIST- Landing gear - CHECK DOWN- Autopilot - OFF- Landing speed - 140 KIAS- Cockpit windows - OPENA man has got to breath, right ?
  4. Try www.vroute.net, I always use it and am very satisfied with it. Although I haven't tested if it can export flight plans to the NGX, because I haven't got it yet ( I am constructing my new system as I write, and I hope to make my maiden flight today or tomorrow....can't wait!)
  5. Now that is one of the smoothest and best looking FSX installations I ever saw. Can you tell me your system specs and your config file? Did you apply other tweaks? What add-ons do you use?My compliments on this great vid.
  6. And as we all know, our target audience is filled to the brim with them..... ; )
  7. That was an awesome video, sometimes it's hard to tell it apart from a real world airplane. I especially like the " scratched lens effect"Congrats guys, can't wait till I get back from holiday. A new system is arriving soon, and I hope that soon I can also take this bird to the skies...
  8. Aerosoft released a radio stack for the iPad.http://www.aerosoft.com/cgi-local/us/iboshop.cgi?showd,,D11404Looks pretty slick, but I haven't had any experience with it though.
  9. On the ipad it is even cooler, because you can look around by moving the ipad. It's like a window into the cockpit.Arjen Nederstigt
  10. I am also interested in this question. Can you undock and transfer the CDU while running FSX fullscreen? Hi Mike, on the homepage of iDisplay there is a downloadable version for both windows Vista and 7 x64, so I guess it's compatible.Regards,Arjen Nederstigt
  11. Aerosoft is also working on some new applications for the Ipad. Check this thread out:Aerosoft RadiostackLooks like the Ipad is really "taking off" as the new companion for flightsimmers..Arjen Nederstigt
  12. It is a screenshot of my very first 737 experience, back in the days of the MSX computer. The program was called SIM737 (only 6 characters were allowed..) and had to be loaded from tape. Man, we've come a long way since then..Arjen Nederstigt
  13. Amen to that friends, without PMDG we would still be flying 737's looking like this: Patience is a virtue, and there is so much to enjoy within the FS world while waiting for the NGX tot come out (..just bought REX 2 and boy...the sim looks al new again)Regards,Arjen Nederstigt
  14. Hi all, I get the following error when I try to start FS9 with the autower.dll in the modules folder."Invalid file handle while opening database file, error was 0x35"I then click OK, and the following message appears"No airports in database - exiting"does anyone know where this error comes from?Safe landings,Arjen
  15. OK, the problem is solved, thanks to Graham Crossley on the CPflight forum. All you need to do if you encounter this problem is assign a diferrent (free) key combo to the function MCP heading increase, via the PMDG drop-down menu in FS 2004 (I used CTRL+SHIFT+U).Then go to the PMDG directory in your FS 2004 folder, and copy the file 737Kbd.ini to the clipboard. Then paste it in the CPflight main folder, thereby overwriting the old 737Kbd.ini (just make sure to back it up first, just in case...)After doing this the problem is gone, and the MCP works perfect in conjunction with RC4. The only question that remains is the HOW? How is it possible that the key combo CTRL+SHIFT+H is "hijacked" by RC4 when it is not in the assignment menu?...well never mind, it works now.Regards,Arjen Nederstigt
  16. I think there are not a lot of people flying with the CP flight MCP, let alone the combo with radar contact. And I think Wim Alsemgeest, who originally started this topic also had the same problem.Anyhow, I appreciate your efforts to clear it all up.Regards,Arjen Nederstigt.
  17. I'm quite sure it is RC4 that is causing the glitch. I start up as normal, using the PMDG 737-700 with no other add-ons started. After loading (on a generic airfield), the CP flight MCP functions normal, including the HDG knob. I then launch RC4, and the knob still works and keeps on working normally during the insertion of the flightplan and the other RC pre-flight preperations. Then, immediately after I push the "Start RC" button, the HDG increase function stops working. This repeats itself every time, no matter if I run RC on the FS machine or on my laptop via WideFS. It must be something in RC, I have no other explanation for this glitch. I double checked my keyboard assignments, and even tried to delete all assignments with exception of the numbers 0-9; the problem still occurs...very strange. It doesn't seem to be a hardware problem of the CP flight MCP, because pressing CTRL+SHIFT+H on the keyboard doesn't work either (whereas CTRL+F8, HDG decrease, can be used normally), and the LED indicators still function normally.I will make a log and send it to you, and hope you can fix it.Could it have anything to do with ADVdisplay? Maybe Peter Dowson could have an idea where the problem lies?Regards,Arjen NederstigtEdit: I just send you the log from this error, I hope it helps.
  18. Is there already a solution for the abovementioned glitch? I experience the same thing as Wim described above. As soon as I start RC it seems to "take over" the combination CTRL+SHIFT+H which is used to increase the MCP heading. In the keyboard assignments of RC there are no assignments to this combination. Any ideas how to solve this?Arjen
  19. Thanks, that last one was a good tip. I just connected the two, and all is running as I want it now. Thanks all for your help.Regards,Arjen Nederstigt
  20. Thanks John, that did the trick. It appeared that I had indeed a registry entry for FS9. I used to have FS9 installed on my laptop some time ago, it must haven been left in the registry after uninstallation. Right now RC 4 works via WideFs. Is there a way to make the sound files play on my main computer or is this not possible?Regards,Arjen
  21. Hi all, I am trying to get RC4 running via my laptop, which has the WideFS client ont it. Activesky is running normally via wideFS, so my network settings are not the problem. After installing RC4 on my WideFS machine, and trying to rebuild the database, as instructed in the manual, I never get the question"is this a wideFS configuration".I don't have FS 2004 installed on my laptop, only on my main FS computer. can this be the problem? Thanks for any help,Arjen Nederstigt
  22. What do you guys think of this baby..will it be worth it's money? Shame it only comes with VGA ports, and not DVI.http://www.matrox.com/graphics/offhome/th2go/gaming/home.cfmArjen Nederstigt
  23. A little remark about the price tag...yes, it's hefty, but in my opinion it's totally worth it. Every hobby costs money. Some people like to pimp their cars with expensive upgrades, I like to "pimp my pit". Luckily everyone can decide for themselves if they should make the purchase or not, there's no obligation to buy. If you think the price is too steep..then you don't buy the CDU. It's all a matter of priorities.Gotta go, another leg of the IVAO IFR world tour is waiting....Best regards,Arjen Nederstigt
  24. To close this topic I would like to say that thanks to the great support of Lefteris and Engravity (thanks Stef and Robert) my CDU is running like a dream now. It's great to toy with, and programming the FMC with real buttons is SO much better as mouseclicks.Best regards,Arjen Nederstigt
  25. Edited for clarity-(Arjen- there's nothing insulting or inappropriate in your post, but I wanted to clear up the situation a bit on behalf of Engravity, who don't have a login here)In Arjen's case, there was a situation where the serial number on the sticker issued by Engravity didn't agree with the one embedded in the firmware. This was a glitch caused in the Engravity CDU firmware update process and one that can certainly be fixed by Engravity personnel. We ask our customers to make sure their decal in the back of the CDU has the same serial number as the one showing in their S+EXEC setup screen, and that their firmware has been updated to 1.03.Thanks all- LefterisRegards,Arjen Nederstigt
