  1. Hi Jim That worked! Thanks to yourself and DickB for the useful advice, and thanks for replying to my query so soon. Mike
  2. Thanks Jim, I'll try this as soon as my daughter gets off Skype! Mike
  3. Hello For the last 3 days, when attempting to access the Avsim Forums, I've been receiving the message: Forbidden You don't have permission to access /forum/121-ms-fsx-forum/ on this server I heve been registered on the forums for several years, and haven't seen this error message before, but receive it even when logged in on the Avsim site. In order to send this message I've logged into the forum using a different wifi network so I presume the problem is IP related. Best regards Mike
  4. Hi I don't have Pro ATC, but there is an Overfly button on the Airbus FMGC, bottom right. If you click this, then the LSK adjacent to the next waypoint, you can force the aircraft to overfly the waypoint, rather than moving straight on to the next one. This may help. Mike
  5. Thanks Bert, your mods have transformed the avionics of this aircraft, I'm now enjoying LPV approaches! Thanks for sharing the results of your work, it's much appreciated! Mike
  6. Have been flying this for the last hour or so. It's very good, far better than I expected. I really like the lag when the engines spool up or down. Must read the manual now. I can tell already that I'll be spending a lot of time in this! Mike
  7. One of the great things about FSX is the way everyone enjoys a different aspect of it, which the opinions in these posts demonstrate. Personally I agree that accurate FDE and systems is a prerequisite for enjoyment, and, as Vololiberista says, a long flight gprovides the opportunity to work out the 'what ifs' for flight planning, and to be prepared if failures should occur. This is described well in Captain Sullenberger's book 'Highest Duty' (A320 in the Hudson) which is a great read.New ideas should always be welcome, good on you Mr 340. Now if there's a virtual laptop inside the virtual cabin, I could run FSX on it ....er....Mike
  8. I'd be interested in a BA version too, but this might interest you!http://www.flyertalk...ooks-wrong.html Mike
  9. Hi Spencer You may find this interesting - a track calculator by Michael Vone: http://www.flightsim.com/kdl.php?fid=32396 It enables you to calculate an optimum course based on prevailing winds, and answered a lot of questions I had about transatlantic routes. Mike
  10. I also had my first jet flight on a Dan Air Comet from Manchester to Corfu in 1972. I was looking forward to the flight more than the holiday, and was surprised to find myself on one of the rear-facing seats in the cabin. The flight was memorable in that we had to do a go-around at Corfu, because the runway was occupied by another aircraft - impressive acceleration when facing backwards! On arrival in the terminal a passenger who had seen the incident remarked that the Comet 'went up again and lots of black smoke came out of the engines'.I'm looking forward to this release despite have just bought iFly's great 737NG for FSX.Mike
  11. You may find this useful - I posted this on the 'Unofficial PIC EMB Forum' some time ago:http://forum.iemit.com/Default.aspx?g=posts&t=3385Hope it works for you!Mike
  12. Glad it was useful, Art S, and hope it works for you Art P.Mike
  13. Hi Art, try this link:http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/24232...ons.html?filterI followed this tutorial, and was able to link ASA on a laptop running windows XP with FSX on a Windows 7 PC. Good luck!Mike
  14. Hi ChristianI just want to thank you for all the hard work you've put into this project. I was unsuccessful at making Tileproxy work in Windows XP (the 0 accesses problem), but I was able to use the advice given on this forum to configure it to work in Windows 7 beta. I'm grateful to yourself and the other forum members for this. I can understand why people say 'once you've used Tileproxy, it's hard to go back! It really transforms FSX into something much better - you can now explore the world instead of exploring MS generated terrain.I hope that access to map servers will continue to be possible despite the recent loss of a prominant server. Thanks again,Mike
  15. Thanks to the developers of this wonderful Sabre. It looks beautiful, and the VC is one of the best I've ever seen on an aircraft of this type. I haven't done much with the autopilot yet as it is such a joy to fly by hand. I can't believe this is freeware!Mike
  16. I agree completely - I installed the demo and think it is the best scenery I've ever seen in FS. Also, I found that even when flying low the detail in the scenery still stands up.Looking forward to the full product!Mike

CraigLook on the bright side.Cost of aircraft fuel $0Maintenance costs $0Airworthiness inspections $0Landing fees $0Upkeep of US road network $0Airport maintenanceand staff costs $0Bargain?And you have some great addons! My wife is not yet convinced by this argument but I keep trying!Mike

I bought it yesterday and have been flying it ever since. Ther are some really nice touches, great gauges and lots of information for the pilot. The 'smoke' effect is really impressive, and gives the appearance of hot air behind the engines.Mike

Thanks for all the information about the F117 - it sounds like a fascinating product at a reasonable price. The replacement radio gauge file may well prove useful with addons like Radar Contact, which does change radio frequencies for you. Thanks againMike
  20. I just read Brian Fletcher's interesting review of the F-117 Nighthawk, and am wondering if this will work with Radar Contact, or if the aircraft is so accurately modelled that ATC is unable to track you.Stealthily yours,Mike
  21. Thanks Bryan and Randy for your info. I think the Philippine airport that you mentioned may be Butuan Bancasi - from a file search I found that Ver Walter Gulfan has worked on several airport sceneries. Also, Fly Tampa Midway is on my wanted list (I have their KSFO and KSAN) so hopefully will see those 'passengers' sometime!Mike
  22. I wonder if there is a developer working on simulating people in FS. I recently purchased Mega-Airport Frankfurt, which is a wonderful add on, with extensive animation of trucks, buses, and cars on the autobahn. But imagine how much more real it would seem if there were small groups of people working on the tarmac, and passengers moving inside the terminal. Fly low over a village and you might catch a glimpse of people in the street or on the way to the pub. Yes, I know it's a flight simulator, and as such it's primary aim should be to provide as real a flying experience as possible - but, like scenery, I'm sure an add on like this would add enormously to the fun of FS. You could also check the quality of your flying by entering the passenger cabin to see how green the passengers looked.Maybe one day.Mike
