  1. Loyd,Thanks. Yes I did look inside, but some of the folders were empty. They have been optional freeware/addon aircraft that I never used. Thanks againTom
  2. Both the Dream Fleet 727 and the Level-D 767 give an excellent visual of the fuel dump.Tom
  3. Adrian,Where would one find this program?ThanksTom
  4. Thanks Kim - Most of the folders are from freeware aircraft that I have tried over the years that I have either deleted or have upgraded.Tom
  5. There is a folder under c:documents and settingsuserapplication datamicrosoftfs9 entitled aircraft. In that folder I found a large series of folders for aircraft that I deleted monthsyears ago. Is there any reason to keep the old no longer used aircraft folders? This is just a question about cleaning up my system.ThanksTom
  6. When I downloaded my Mooney from the Carnado Web Site I had small problem connecting to the download. But my problem was easily fixed by disconnecting by pop-up blocker. If you have either the Comcast or Google Pop-up Blocker just go into settings and turn it off until you complete your download. This hint may have been mention above, but the post is just getting to long to read the messages.Tom
  7. Final update.Went out to their web site and implemented their ideas on how in increase framerates. Removed the BLGs for approach equipment (not approach lights), hold short lights, vechiles, and their trees. The changes increase my framerates on approch to 15-16 FPS.Tom
  8. Also, if you have a popup blocker, you may have to turn it off for the transistion.Tom
  9. On climbout I use shift T to set my rate of climb and to level out I use the shift Z function. I like flying in real weather so using the "invisible" autopilot keys can be a real help.
  10. I believe with the exception of having to use the up/down bottons to set your rate of climb/desent, the autopilot works the same as the default Cessna.Tom
  11. Third flight.KLVN to KMSP via Turkey Track.Solid 20.0 Framerates through Turkey Track. Once I caught the glideslop rates drop back to 8-10. Removed all AI aircraft and set sliders to dense, middle, middle and saw slight rise to 11-13 in FPS. Interesting point is once on the ground, FPS went to 15 FPS. When I changed the AI back to 70% the FPS remained near 15. I did notice a slight rise in FPS also when I switched to a night time environment.Aproach into KMSP was made using Rwy 30L. Did see elevation changes, more so towards the river. The river is still messed up like it was in FS9. I really think the problem is related to the runways and all of the misc light towers, markers, etc. I see a lot of shimmering of the airport from the air. On the ground the shimmering is still there until I ran "flush" with the runway markers. My specs are 2.4 Mgh processor, 1 Gig of memory, 256 MB video board, Windows XP and I am running FS9 at 1280 X 1040.Tom
  12. Ron,I have now taken two flights into KMSP. Both flights were from KLVN and neither time did I land. Both were just sight seeing flights. Here's what I saw:The river is still elevated on the east end of the airport, just as it is the default scenery. I am using using both FSGenesis and GE PRO II for my scenery. I was, at one time, also using Ulimate Terrain but removed it about a month ago. I am also runnning Traffic 2004 for AI aircraft.Prior to installing BPs KMSP I ran the FSManagers Diagnostics program and had no scenry or terrain errors. I also removed two KMSP BLG files from the the FS9 Addon Scenery area. After installation, I recompiled my AI traffic files. My first flight is documented in my post found above. After the first flight I reran FSManager and found 8 files that were either overlapping or misplaced. I removed those files and took my second flight. Same results were seen from my first flight.Ron, the area around the airport is very realistic, but it does not "blend" in well with my GE Pro II scenery. Tonight I'll take another flight, this time landing from the east and I'll let you know what I see for frames rates and terrain elevations. I did notice that they offered a "lite" version of the scenery. I may try that next.Tom
  13. I purchased the software this morning. Here are my first impressions.I grew up in south Minneapolis and I now live just southwest of the airport in Burnsville. This is a very accurate representation of the facility. The BP KMSP has the Mall of America on the correct side of the highway, the default scenery has the mall misplaced. I really like the airport scenery, it reflects the airport, the national cementary and state park that surrounds the facility. What I did not like was the huge frame hit on my system. I have a 2.4M processor with 1 GB of memory. I keep my framerates set to 20 FPS. On the approach to the airport I was seeing 19.8 FPS with my sliders set to dense and traffic set to 50. In the area of the airport my FPS dropped into the area of 7-10 FPS. During this flight I was using the default C172.Tom
  14. Nice airplane. Just about the best framerates of any purchased aircraft added to my "fleet" to date.Tom
  15. Is this the correct order for the placement FSGenesis Mesh?FSGenesisLandclassSceneryLandscapeUT USAThanksTom
  16. 80 reads and not a single response. What I'm looking for is order correct, if not how can I improve my scenery library. in example, are my landclass files to low?ThanksTom
  17. My scenery is good but not great. This is how a my scenery libary is set up in FS9:1-17 Alaskan Scenery files (Lodges, airfields, etc)18-20 EZ Effects/outdoors21-40 Scenery files (lodges, airfileds, etc)42 EZ Libraries43-53 Scenery files (lodges, airfileds, etc)54 Landscape libary55-66 Scenery files (lodges, airfileds, etc)67 Traffic 2004 Airport Facilities68-69 Landclass Files (FSGenesis)70 Freight Dog Airports (but no Freightdog Program I thought I could add additional airfield items without Freight dogs)72-77 Gasier Bay, Tongas, Misty Fjords)78 Ultimate Terrian USA79 => Default FSP Scenery FilesHow should this really be organized?ThanksTom
  18. I am not certain that I understand your statement on weather. I can receive real time by selecting the weather information button from the AOPA web site. Regaional maps, internet types of reports, and METAR. What I can not get is real time weather thats overlays my flight plan without using a third party weather program. I'll take a look a RouteFinder when it is back on line.Tom
  19. Have you ever looked into becoming a membver of AOPA? AOPA is a real world flight organization that offers a great North American Flight Planner, magazine, real time weather, and free on line training courses. Although their service/organization is real world, it transfers over to flight simulation very well. If you are taking the extra steps required to make Route Finder work in FS9/X, AOPA may be another great source of information. In addition to the real world data, the past two years they have also added 2 FS9 aircraft, developed by Flight1, free of charge for becoming a member. The two aircraft were a Rockwell Commander 112A and a Cherokee Six.Tom
  20. Holger,Between the re-indexing of my scenery file stucture, and your article on Vertex Level Resolution and LOD, my Alaska scenery is looking VERY good.ThanksTom
  21. Thanks to everybody who responded to my question. I did review the GB Manual, but I goofed on the movement of the UT Files. Thanks again,Tom
  22. Would somebody tell me if I my scenery Library setup in the correct order? I am not certain what should go on top scenery or landscape.ThanksTom
  23. Also another good site to visit for freeware scenery is:http://walhalla.mine.nu/fs2004.phpTom
  24. Although I have had different versions of MSFS for over twenty years, I had never flown in a GA aircraft until last Friday afternoon. A co-worker that I have know for a few years recently became a CFI gave me the opportunity to go up in both a Cessna 172 and a Piper PA-22. In both cases, after safely getting up in the air and away from the airport, he let me take control of the plane. I flew the Cessna for 40 minutes and the Piper for 20 minutes. I was a great and wonderful experience. My take from my first flight and what I saw as differences and things that similair with MSFS:My friend had me help with the preflight checkout and taking the airplane from its hanger. I was surprised that I could move the PA-22 without any help.Twenty years and I never realized how small the inside of a 172 really is compared to how in feels in MSFS. Two people in the back seat will need to be good friends. My years of experience with MSFS left me completely confortable with the gages and radios. Eric provided all of the communication with the ATCs, I'm not certain that I could have that task properly.I amount of runway required for both take off and landing in either aircraft was very short, also the distance needed to align an aircraft on final approach was much shorter than I had imaged. Also overtime, with the sim I have become a little careless with the correct procedures in flying a traffic pattern. Watching it in real world drove home the message of how important of a step that is the real world. In the actual flying of the airplane, Eric gave me a high grade, I was not over or under steering the aircraft. I found it fairly easy to pick a target in the distance and fly a course to it. The overall hands on needed to control the plane was very little (not much wind last Friday). Eric did correct the method that I use to trim an aircraft in the real world versus a sim. One thing that I noticed was how much you needed to study the six primary flight gages while in flight, without an autopilot you are always watching air speed and altitude. Also, the cost of flight time and fuel is MUCH higher in the real world versus the sim.I had a great time. On the way home I stopped and purchased a headset. Yesterday I signed up to become a member of VATSIM and acquired a copy of SquawkBox 3. The next time that I go up, I want to sound as though I know how to communicate with ATC.Tom
  25. Nice story. Another example of the people within the flight sim community helping each other out with their problems.Tom
