  1. Peter - thanks. Most of the time I do fly IFR, but because this flight was over mostly water, and I wanted to rake some leaves, I selected VFR. Thanks againTom
  2. Thank you, somhow I should of known that fact. Thanks againTom
  3. I just completed a flight from LPLA to CYQX using the Dreamfleet 727-200. As I approached Gander Int. I was told that the airport was IFR and it was closed.Even though the airport was closed, I landed using the NAV/LOC, Glideslope capabilitites of the aircraft. I have never attempted the FS9 training course to become IFR qualified. I have almost 1600 flight hours in FS9 and I would rather not take the course, a number of posts found in this forum state that the course in flawed. Is there and ini file that I can be reset so that I can skip the airport close due to being IFR?ThanksTom
  4. Jerry,You could add the the following to your aircraft.cfg file and use the autopilot commands found on your kneeboard.[autopilot]use_no_default_bank=1use_no_default_pitch=0autopilot_available=1 All that you are changing here is the number 1 behind the autopilot_available=0 line. This line is usually three quarters of the way down the aircraft.cfg file.Tom
  5. Thank you for taking the time to respond in such detail. I'll hold off on my purchase until I read your review. I am also leaning towards the Mindstar version. I read in one of the forums that their version could be used as a teaching aid. Thanks againTom
  6. I am considering purchasing a G1000 for FS9. There seems to be two products available, the Mindstar and the CLS systems. I would like recommendations of the strenghts and weaknesses of the two systems. Also, how difficult is it to install either system to another aircraft? I noticed that the Mindstar unit comes ready for the default C172 or C182 and it appears it does not support migration to other aicraft.ThanksTom
  7. AL,The PMDG Web site also has on line a 737 manual for their aircraft that details the start up of the 737.Tom
  8. Steve,I also have the DF727 and it is still my favorite "big" jet. As for the CS727, there is a great tutorial for the CS727 that can be found on this site. Check it out. Also if I remember correctly, you can pull down the DF7272 POH and their tutorial from their web site without purchasing the aircraft.Tom
  9. Sorry to sound so dumb...but is rc4?ThanksTom
  10. Lee,There basically three things an user can do in a forum. The user can teach, learn or debate. Thanks for teaching me a better way in reloading my FS9 key asignments. You taught me a better way to recover from an error.Tom
  11. Lee - it worked great, thanks again for the help.
  12. Lee,Great idea! I'll give it a try this evening.Tom
  13. Lee,You are correct. I did add an add-on recently. I'll go ahead and reload by back-up master copy of the FS9 config file. After that I take a moment and reload the add-on to see if I can rcreate the problem.I'm not going to mention tha add-on until I can determine the root cause of the problem. Those developers who take the time in the development of a product usally have enought problems without me taking guess that their product caused my problem. Thanks for the helpTom
  14. Something knocked out all of my default FS9 keyboard commands. What file do I need to replace and is there an easy way to restore the default file? Also is the file that I need save/loaded on the default FS9 CD's?ThanksTom
  15. FlightSim Manager also allows you to load high. It also has reclaim and defrag system RAM option, but if I remember correctly it is limited to the amount of RAM that it is capable of reclaiming.Tom
  16. Lou,Thank you very much for the help.Tom
  17. Lou, you are correct.I just messed up on the GNS Config step. Once I re-did that step everthing worked fine. I do have a question though, In pre-flight do I program the flight plan into both the DF Garmin 430 and the R-XP 430W?Also is there a way just to replace the DF 430 on the 2D panel?ThanksTom
  18. Ron thanks.I had gone to the Reality XP Site and had reviewed their FAQ section but I missed their forum. I just posted my question at their site.Ron, I am also from the Twin Cities area. By chance did you ever work in Eagan? Thanks againTom
  19. I just purchased the Reality XP 430WAAS add-on, but I messed up the installation on the aircraft. I was attempting to install the device on the DreamFleet Archer III. It appears that I did not complete the GNS configuration program successfully.First off this was my mistake, not an installation software error. So how do I recover? Do I need to remove and reinstall the complete software package, or is there a configuration program that can be run from within the existing installation that allows the updating of the on plane installation. I believe that I did not run the GNS Configuration package correctly.ThanksTom
  20. In my FS9.CFG file there is a line that reads:LOD_TARGET_FPS=14What does that line of code do and is 14 the correct input factor?ThanksTom
  21. Thanks for the quick response. One last question, can Silverlight be "turned off" by FSAutostart? Thanks again,Tom
  22. Would somebody please explain to me what Microsoft's Silverlight is and if it has a effect on FS9. While I was updating my XP operating system one of the downloads that was recommended by Microsoft was their Silverlight program.ThanksTom
  23. I also have the PIC 737 and I really like the aircraft. I do not have the PMDG 737, but I do have their 747-400. The level of detail in the 747-44 is outstanding. The only thing that has held be back from purchasing the PMDG 737 is that I was told that you can not save a flight in process. I like to fly real time and I have a family. Oftem times I am unable to complete a flight due to family issues. Being able to save a flight in process is very impotant to me, so I fly the PIC 737. Note: With the PMDG 747-400/400F you are able to save and restore a flight in process.Tom
