  1. I thought I read some place where Windows 7 creates a parition/folder that moves some products to an area that will only run under a 32 bit OS. Is that correct? If that capability exists should I purchase the Windows 7 64 or XP 64?Tom
  2. First - Thanks everybody for your quick answers. With FS9 I thought that there was a 4GB memory limitation if I used XP. Is there such a limitation with FS9 and Windows 7?Tom
  3. About the 32/64 bit. I thought I read that FS9 would not run properly on a 64 bit system. Is that an incorrect statement?Tom
  4. I am about to purchase a new computer. Because of my investment in FS9, I have no intentions in moving to FSX. What is the maximum computer that I can purchase that will run FS9 effectivitley? That is max processor, memory, operating system, 32/64 bit etc. I am currently using Windows XP Home, and all of my home based software packages (MS Word. Excel, Powerpoint, Access) are geared for XP. I would guess that these packages will run under Windows 7, but if I go with Windows 7 as my oprating system, will I have problems with FS9.Under FS9, I have the current software packages from Dreamfleet, Level-D, PMDG, Carenado, Aerosoft, Eaglesoft and Digital Aviation. Also a small number of sceneries from the most common providers.ThanksTom

    VOZ

Jeff - Thank you,I have been away from FS for a short while and some of my browser links have gone bad. The VOZ scenery package is one of the past freeware scenery packages ever created for FS9 and the information in their forums was always helpful.Tom

    VOZ

What ever happen to VOZ at Vista Australis? For FS9 they used to have a wonderful little forum with a lot of good information. Also, there VOZ scenery was outstanding.Tom
  7. I fly GA out of Airlake (Airlake, Lakeville, Mn) alot. Just to the north is KMSP. A while ago I was showing a friend my version of FS9 with all of the variuos addons that I have added over the years. His home is near KFCM and I was using UT and attempting to show him a golf course near his home. As I neared KFCM my windshield fill up with a AI Airbus landing on runway 4 at KMSP. The Airbus at the most was 100-330 feet off the nose of my aircraft.Although my friend thought that was neat, I realized the mistake I made in cutting a corner to save time to get over KFCM. I have never before or since seen an aircrft up that close again in FS.Tom
  8. Ed you are correct. Although the artwork of both versions of the Garmin 430 is similar, Eaglesof places a small version of their logo in the lower right hand corner. That being said, can the Eaglesoft version of the Garmin 430 ne updated?ThanksTom
  9. Is it possible to update the Reality XP AIRAC Data Files for either the Reality XP purchased 430/530s add-ons or the Eaglesoft/Dreamfleet Reality XP 430/530s that was provided as a part of their GA models? I down loaded this cycles and loaded into the Dreamfleet A36 but it does not appear to have updated the aircrafts version of the reality XP 430.ThanksTom
  10. I am about to purchase a new computer. I thought that I remembered reading that FS9 had some sort of limitation for the maximum amount of memory that it could use without having an issue. So my question is how much memory should I purchase? Also I believe that FS9 has no troubles with Windows 7, am I correct? No matter the computer or operating system I plan to stay with FS9 because of my investment in the product.ThanksTom
  11. A couple of questions before I purchase. Can the MD11 flights be saved while enroute? I purchased the Queen and I can save the flight during long routes, but I understand that it not true with the PMDG 737 package. Also, I notice that there is close to 1500 pages of documentation and two tutorials for the aircraft. If I purchase the aircraft, what sections of the manuals gives me the most bang/most needed without killing my printer? I know that they offer preprinted documentation, but the cost appears to be a little steep for my budget.ThanksTom
  12. Rob,Thankyou. I need a better flight planner, but with my wife laid off, for now thr freeware versions will have to do.Thanks againtom
  13. I am finishing an around the world flight that I started sometime ago and I am now just getting a chance to finish. I am using the PMDG 747-400. The last leg of the trip is to be a flight from EDDF to KMSP. This should be a leg of about + - 4000 KM. I use the freeware versions of Route Finder, Sim Route, or Vroute to develop by flight plans. In all cases I can not find a valid flight plan that reflects this route.I am looking for a flight plan that uses the great circle route that runs north through the United Kingdom, Canada and into the United States. Route Finder will build a route, but it runs south towards Africa and then up the South American coast line. This turns into a flight in excess of 7000 KMs. The other two products do not list a flight plan at this time. Thanks for your helpTom
  14. Ron,Thanks for the level of detail in your reply. I printed out your reply and will try implementing it this weeked. Thanks againTom
  15. John thank you. The answer that I am really looking for is when in flight, what position should high/low idle set to while in cruise. Thanks againtom
  16. Where can I find data on the use of high/low idle? I remember a couple of years ago either PC Pilot or Computer Pilot had an article on the B1900D on the proper approach for the use of the the idle throtle. I'm just getting back into flight simulation again and I do have the B1900C and D, being able to use them properly would make there flights more enjoyable.ThanksTom
  17. I have been away from flight simulation for short time. My RCV4 version is 4.3.3845. It this the current version?ThanksTom
  18. Thank you. I was fairly certain that it didn't, but it never hurts to check. Thanks againTom
  19. Been away from Flight Simulation for the summer. Its getting cold again in Minnesota so its time to put away the summer toys. I tried to search and review an answer for this question but the search engine didn't produce an answer that I was looking for.Does Microsoft Explorer 8 have any effect on the FS9 on-line weather engine?ThanksTom
  20. I'm disappointed. You can only fly the model in the VC. I really prefer 2D (old school). In the VC mode it is very difficult to turn on the NAV Lights (may be a hidden click that I missed). Take-offs and landings are an adventure, in both cases the plane bounces very hard. I believe that problem would be easy to correct by adjusting the contact points. I have a number of their models, C182Q, C206, C152 and the Mooney and this is the first time that I have been disappointed with their software. The one good thing about the developer, through patches, they always make things right.Tom
  21. Rudy,I fly FS9 and had the same problem with RC4. JD offered this as a solution and it worked for me."76 is probably because you didn't define the path to where fs stores the .flt/.wx files - click the .flt/.wx button, and define the path.fixing number 1, will fix number 2"In FS9 the WX files are located in the same directory as your flight plans.
  22. JD,I only saw the runtime error message after I left the game. Upon exiting either FS9 or RC4 (can't remember which one), I would here the "error message" beep and when the screen was empty it displayed an XP message box.Tom
  23. JD,My bad. I must have missed that step when I load the program. It didn't show up as an error until I had saved/loaded a flight.ThanksTom
  24. First off I am new to the software package, but I have read all of the instructions and I am working myself through the tutorials.First question: What am I doing wrong or I have setup incorrectlty to encounter the following message?Runtime error 76Radar Contact FSUIPC.RCV4codeI have a purchased copy of FSUIPC and I checked, per the manual, and I have both of the required message boxes called out on page 33 are properly checked.Second question: I saved a flight using the RC4 Save RC/FS State option (ctrl-shift-:). I can seen the file in both my select flight and Flight Simulator files folder. I start FS9, I start anywhere/anytime and then I call RC4 and select load previously saved RCDs. I then select the folder that the files I saved under (again I can see, the .flt, wx, and rc4 extenstions by manually selecing the folder outside of RC4) but all I see is a .rcd extention. I see no save files while under RC4.Whay did I setup incorrectly.ThanksTom
