  1. In theory yes, but that was not what I experienced. This was over a year ago but my memory is that it didn't change my overclock, it just seemed to prevent some changes I made in the bios from enabling. I don't have any links. I just remember googling the porblems I was having and found that others with the same issues resolved them by removing AI Suite II. I removed it and the issues went away. I remember that in additon to running the windows uninstaller, I had to download a separate removal tool from the Asus ROG site, and then I had to go into the registry and remove some more items. Its entirely possible that, I may have just corrupted it when using it to overclock in windows as I did have some BSODs when I pushed it too far. As you said, Asus may have updated it since then also. It has some nice features but I had a frustrating enough experience with it that it won't be going back in on the next rebuild. I also did not like the fact that it was always running in the background. With a bios overclock, this is not the case. I believe that you can do an auto-overclock from the bios also, but I never used it. The problem with overclocking, or even building a computer for that matter, is that you can not call Asus and talk to anyone who knows anything. All you can do is read opinions on the internet and try something. If it works you go with it. Ted
  2. So this new tool will identify the developers that are sticklers for detail in the correctness of their coding and those that shall we say are less so? This is going to make for some interesting, if not volatile threads. =@ :Big Grin: Ted
  3. Thanks for clarifying that Scott. I'm going to turn off my autogen on a few flights to get an idea of what it would be like. Ted
  4. I have an ASUS P8z77 deluxe and I used the AI Suite II just as you described to quickly find an overclock to then fine tune with the bios. I thought it was great at first. The problem that I, and others, had is that AI suite II kept interfering with the manual bios overclocks even though the AI Suite overclock componenets had been turned off. I would find settings changing on there own or locked to where I couldn't change them. Google searches indicated the culprit was AI Suite II. After uninstalling AI Suite II all the bios problems went away, Getting rid of AI Suite wasn't a matter of just uninstalling. If left remnants behind and getting rid of them was like trying to removing a virus. This may be the real reason that Asus doesn't have the same overclocking functions on the ROG boards. Just speculation on my part of course. Ted
  5. That looks fantastic! I've flown that route in reverse probabaly 20 times this week trying to learn the Citation X FMS. I have GEX/UTX and the flights were not nearly as interesting as that photoscenery. It was my understanding that all the scenery was flat with photoscenery and that was one of the reasons that kept me from getting it. I thought autogen and 3d objects did not appear with photoscenery. I guess I was misinformed. I clearly see 3d objects in your Las Vegas shots. Ted
  6. I have MyTrafficX 5.4b. I agree the AI planes do not look as nice as the ones in the default UT2. But if you have to go through all the work described above you could likewise upgrade the AI models in MyTrafficX. I have not had the time or energy to do this. I did try the UT2 demo before purchasing MyTrafficX. The main reason I did not purchase UT2 is because everytime you access the drop down menu bar in FSX all the traffic dissappears and you have to wait awhile for it to repopulate. I'm surprised that this rarely gets mentioned in these "what's the best traffic" threads. I guess it doesn't bother others as much as it did me. The latest version of MyTrafficX from SImmarket is 5.4c. A number of people are having FSX ntdll crashes with this version and are reverting back to 5.4b which eliminates the crashes. The developer cannot replicate this issue on his machine and thus is having difficulty finding the cause. The UI interface is old and clunky and not very easy to learn. Looks DOS based. After its installed and setup you can forget about it. I guess the answer is there is no clear best out of the box AI Traffic solution. Depends on what you want and how much effort you want to put in. I just wanted some traffic at airports with realistic airlines with minimal effort and maintenance. Ted
  7. Thanks John. I copied that and put it in a text file for future reference. Ted
  8. I don't have any ORBX regions installed and forgot about the FTX central. So it sounds like I can use FTX Central to disable selective ORBX regions and airports and use SCE to disable the other airports. Thankss for the reponse NCooper Ted
  9. Does Scenery Config Editor work with ORBX regions and third party complex airports? In other words does, can it disable all ORBX regional scenery and complex airports except those that you plan on flying into? Ted
  10. Sound good John. I downloaded the program to do this last weekend but haven't had the time to try it yet. Ted
  11. Looking promising John. How large of a resolution are you able to get with this process? Ted
  12. I just went to their new site. The United States section includes the state of....Cuba. Did I miss some big news? I guess I've got to get out more often. Ted
  13. I speculated that you were all independent hired guns. Ron had mentioned that he has lost some staff but I didn't know who he was referring to. Glad to hear you are still on the Eaglesoft team Bill. And as a side comment to this thread, I would like to thank you for the explanations, straight talk and sanity you are bringing to the P3D threads. Ted
  14. I bought your book from Simmarket earlier this week Captain Walden. I haven't had time to take the cross country flight but hope to this weekend. Just curious why this is not being sold alongside the Citation X at Flight1, especially if you are not getting any royalties off it at Simmarket? I would not have known about it if Mad Dog hadn't recommended it earlier in this thread. I don't see any naysayers in this thread, just praise for Ed's work. On the VC textures, that's just us Avsimimers whining and asking for more. Didn't know anything about the XLS so I did a little research. Interesting Plane. Sounds like Cessna took the body from the X, replaced the T-tail and swept wings with straight wings and tail with the lowered elevators, and installed a Collins Pro Line 21 avionics and Fadec. Anyone know what the pros and cons of the T-tail vs the conventional tail. Just curious. Another thing I've been wondering. I've read the anouncement about the partnership with LES, but who is on the Eaglesoft team these days? I noticed Ed and Bill still responding to Eaglesoft questions, thankfully, but it appears Ed is currently with Mindstar and Bill is with Milviz. Ron, now that Eaglesoft is having a ressurection perhaps a "meet the team" announcement party is in order. Again, just curious. Ted
  15. I looked at the your Portland scenery shots and they look great John. It seems that the Megascenery shots that HLJames posted are a little sharper, but it is hard to tell. What resolution are the files that you are creating for a state in 24 hours? Ted
  16. Looking forward to seeing screen shots of the FSX photoscenery John when you have the time. Ted
  17. Those shots looks really look great. My brother and I rented a Mooney and flew from Denver to Lake Havasu, following the Colorado river the entire way. It looked exactly like shots. I recognize Moab, Utah and all the other spots. HLJames, you are really trying to get me to part with money aren't you.
  18. Very clear explanation Bill. Thanks. From reading though the link that Slayer provided, finding the root cause of the runaway VAS does not appear to be an easy task. Ted
  19. Jim, brings up a good point. I reported that MyTrafficX 5.4c caused ntdll crashes which I should not have said because I do not know if it was the cause. I do not know anywhere near enough about the inner workings of windows coding to know this. For all I know, the 5.4c version could be coded perfectly and some other unrelated software is interacting with it poorly and causing the crash. Burkhardt, the developer, is not having any issues running version 4.5c. All I know at this time is that downgrading to 5.4b eliminated the crashes for myself and others. The same seems to be occurring with the Citation X MFD freeze. Some have it and others don't. It is a process of elimination to determine which software are conflicting with each other. Now lets return to our scheduled program, details on the new XLS, CII, CJ1+, and XLS, specifically which new ESDG jet will the test pilots be flying first? :Big Grin: I realize this may be a moivng target at this time. Ted
  20. Very informative link Slayer. Thanks for posting that. Its going to take me awhile to absorb all of it. Ted.
  21. As stated in the Eaglesoft link Ron provided, a number of us have discovered that MytrafficX version 5.4c has been causing FSX to crash with an ntdll.dll errors. This was happening with many other aircraft and not isolated to the Citation X. Burkhardt is aware of the issue but cannot duplicate it on his computer. Reverting back to version 5.4b solves the problem. Some have reported that keeping 5.4c and using the 2012 schedules instead of those from 2013 also solves it. I can say that I have been flying the Citation X with MytrafficX 5.4b and have not had an MFD freeze or any other issues. However, I just have the navigraph data that the X came with. I didn't see any reason to upgrade this if all the airport data in FSX was 2005 vintage. Hope this is helpful to someone. Ted
  22. Thanks for the clear explanation Fr. Bill. So what causes the address space to overfill? Are other processes/dlls/whatever giving FSX addresses that FSX or entities are not clearing out? Ted
  23. Its just like driving in a car, really fast....with your wipers off. The next time it rains, clean your windshield, put some rain-x on it, and go for a drive down the freeway. You won't need your wipers unless there are cars in front of you throwing up dirty water. The rain will just sheet of and you will be able to see fine. In the snow, if its cold enough, as you probably already know, you don't need your wipers as it just blows off. That's what its like in a Piper Cub. Ted
  24. Just what I was looking for and need Mad dog. I'm glad I posted my comments and thanks for the link. I've been learning to fly the CX by You tube videos, trial, and error. Fortunately I know how to disconect the FMS/AP and it hand flies beautifully. I also have the CJ1 and CII. In my opinion all that is needed with these is cockpit graphics updating, so Ron I am glad to hear that this is planned for both of these. Ted
