  1. It never recovered. I had to abandon the flight. Ground speed and DTG to next waypoint froze too!
  2. Hello all Flying from EGGW-LPPT, at FL370. During the cruise approximately a quarter of the flight completed, there was no forward motion. I could descend, climb, turn using LNAV and HDG SEL in fact everything else was working, but no forward aircraft motion. The only thing I noticed that was different was the contrails were swirling like clouds around the underside of the fuselage and around the engines. Never seen this before. Any ideas? Thank you Alan W
  3. Issue resolved simply by selecting the 'show opening screen' as suggested earlier so thank you all for your help. That's another issue ticked off the list! Thanks Alan
  4. Hi Sorry I misunderstood you. I'll have a look now. Thank you Alan
  5. Hi Thanks,I know what I've done now after seeing your screenshot, only problem is this window doesn't appear when FS loads! Regards Alan
  6. Thank you I'll have a look and post my findings. Regards Alan
  7. Hello I don't know how this has happened but the FSX start screen (the one where you choose your flight/aircraft/time and season etc) has disappeared! When I start FSX now the splash screen appears and then FS loads and starts at my default flight. Any ideas what may have happened and how I can rectify this issue? Thanks Alan W
  8. Hello Dave Thanks for your reply. I've resolved it now simply by changing the console=1 to console=0 in the simconnect.ini file. Found that on this forum after I'd posted last night. Cheers Alan
  9. Hello all For whatever reason, whenever I start FSX a 'Simconnect diagnostic' window opens and stays open with fast scrolling text. I can't close this window other than to end the programme with the task manager. When I do FSX crashes and each time the crash is caused by a different .dll file. I don't know how this happened so if anyone has any ideas how to cure it that would be good. Thank you. Regards Alan Hi all I've just found a post with exactly the same issue-looks like an easy fix!? Regards Alan
  10. Hello all Not sure where I should post this but I thought a good place to start-I'll be happy to be pointed in the right direction to the appropriate forum! Does anyone know if Cockpit-for-You is still in business? I've bought several gauges from them and I have a very small issue, but after trying for some time, I am not getting any response to me e-mails. Just wondering if anybody had any news? Regards Alan W
  11. Ok knew it wouldn't be long. Clicking on the icon does nothing but alt and enter maximises the window. It doesn't answer the question why it minimises in this way though. I haven't changed any setting so still a bit of a mystery. Thanks htuna Regards Alan W
  12. Hi As soon as it happens again, which I suspect will be soon, I will post straight away. Regards Alan
  13. Hello all Urgent because I have someone coming to fly the sim and a new issue has appeared. FSX splash screen appears after I start the programme then disappears never to be found although it continues to load. I checked in task manager and shows it running. Can't open by clicking on the icon in the task bar either. Any suggestions welcome. Thank you Regards Alan W
  14. I believe I tracked the issue to the pot for the steering tiller. Well not the pot exactly as it is brand new. The steering tiller handle is heavier than the device it is connected to (home made) and when released I'm sure this is moving the pot by the very small corresponding 'veer left' movement when landing. Off to hone my engineering skills now and put it right. Thanks for all the advice/suggestions. Regards. Alan
  15. Hi Rob Here's my situation. I've learnt everything I know about flying by trial and error and although I've been simming for a number of years and take it seriously I still haven't studied the CATIII B/C approaches you mention. I know or think it's to do with conditions at an airport-excuse my ignorance- but I just like to manually fly. Not long distance for obvious reasons, but now you've mentioned it I'll have a read. It may well answer some other unanswered issues! Thanks for getting back to me. Regards Alan
  16. Hi Rob I'm using the Jetstream 737-800 model specifically tailored for use with Prosim and FSX and handles extremely well in every sense. I never perform auto-lands, always disconnecting the A/P after G/S capture and localiser established-sometimes flying manually for longer distances. This model aircraft is super smooth to fly even with relatively high settings including the weather. I usually apply reverse thrust down to 60kts and use the tiller below 40kts. It is just before this that the veer to the left occurs. Thanks. Alan
  17. Hello all Not sure if this is FS or aircraft specific, but upon touch down and reaching say 60kts, does a real 737 veer to the left and require correction by use of the rudder? I have this each landing. All my controls are extremely well calibrated and their status is displayed on the EICAS screen. How much rudder/steering input is usually required after landing in a real 737 Running W7, FSX, Prosim and the Jetstream 737-800 model Thanks all. Regards. Alan
  18. Jim Thank you. That's answered all I need to know. Kind regards Alan
  19. Hi Jim I've been reading through the CTD manual, and I note it suggests installing software to check for corrupt drivers etc. I've installed two different software programmes for this and I'm concerned that one says I need seven (7) driver updates and one says I need twelve (12). These are both payware so I'm a little bit cautious. One of these were suggested in the manual. Would you mind letting me know your thoughts on this before I buy? Thank you and regards. Alan
  20. Thanks Jim Couldn't see the link for looking! Regards Alan
  21. Hello all Back to CTD again! Couldn't find the guide so here goes. FSX crashes frequently once the flight has been selected. It will be in cockpit view and then the error message appears and FSX restarts. I've checked in Event viewer and I can see the following common causes of this crash; c:\Windows\System32\dinput.DLL and SysWOW\ntdll.dll This is getting really frustrating so if anyone can shed some light on this I'd be very grateful. Thank you Alan
  22. Hi Jim Sorry didn't see your post earlier. Thanks for your input. I'm going to do a bit more reading! Cheers AlanW
  23. Hi RWFeldman It's not the ASE instructions that are the issue it's SimConnect that's causing the problem. Thanks mjrhealth I'll have a look. Regards to you both AlanW
  24. Hello all Following my recent migration to FSX, I am trying to re-connect ASE on an XP client machine, FSX being installed on the W7 server machine. I have never had so many problems trying to connect a programme. However I am where I am and I would like very much if someone could help. I have been in contact with HI-Fi regarding this but the network configuration is beyond their scope of assistance. I have the Deluxe version of FSX. I have installed a.msi file on to the client machine. I have a the SimConnect file in the FlightSimulatorFilesX folder. I cannot find the SimConnect.ini file anywhere. Looking at www.fsinsider site there is a mention of the file but can't seem to find it to download. Similar issue with the SDK SP1A. If I ever do find these files I don't know what to do with them, I have no understanding what they do even after reading about them, (seems quite technical to me) so I'm at a loss. I've been at this for over 4 weeks without success. The PCs are seeing each and I have other programmes that are connecting from the client machine. So ultimately I'm asking for some serious help before I lose my mind! Thank you in advance for any help you can provide. Step by step instructions are best for me-certainly regarding this issue. Kind regards Alan W
